I rewatched the fight last night. And I came to the same conclusion, only more conclusively: Bud won 9 rounds. MAYBE you could say he only won 8 rounds. DAZN's Chris Mannix scored the first two rounds for Madrimov. Say what!?! Sergio Mora was blind, too. Only Shawn Porter had any sense. Even the lame judges all scored the first two for Bud. Madrimov hardly did anything all night. There is ZERO reason to run this one back.

Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov both fought very, very well on Saturday night. So much so the only fair reason I can see anyone having for criticising Crawford is if they're considering whether he can keep Saul "Canelo" Alvarez off him should they ever fight.

Malignaggi writes just as well as he speaks. I’m glad he found a platform with a decent reach.

I must say that watching the fight twice, I was thinking the same thing. What are Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora seeing that I am not seeing? I could not see how they were giving those rounds to Madrimov when he was not doing anything. I really struggled to see 4 clear rounds for Madrimov and I am not a huge Bud Crawford fan either. Madrimov was just not active enough. Not throwing enough.
1. They let the "Bud is a slow starter" narrative influence their scoring for the first couple of rounds, even though you can start slow and still win the rounds (which he clearly did). Just like you said "Madrimov was just not active enough. Not throwing enough." That goes for the first couple of rounds through the entire fight.
2. They thought Madrimov was pressing the fight when in fact Bud dictated the pace because:
a. They apparently haven't watched all of Crawford's fights. If they had, they'd have seen a similar strategy against Viktor Postol, another European fighter with an in and out style, where the fight went the distance. Bud fights to the style of his opponent, to take away what he does best.
b. They apparently haven't watched many of Madrimov's fights because he doesn't fight like he did against Bud. Yes, some (not over committing, for instance) was probably due to strategy, but more than that Bud dictated what he was doing with his own foot and hand movement, etc. Bud was the ring general.
3. They (especially Mannix) kept saying stuff like "another right hand from Madrimov!!" when those punches weren't landing half the time. I saw they didn't land in real-time and then I went frame by frame several times just to see if I missed something. I didn't miss. They did.
4. They acted like hitting Crawford with a some right hands throughout the fight meant something. This is boxing. Everybody gets hit. Crawford doesn't fight like Floyd. And Bud took WAY more shots from Egidijus Kavaliauskas. Different type of opponent, so different type of fight.
5. They are way too invested in punch stats, which I'm fairly certain were miscalculated for that fight. Regardless, I trust my eyes to tell me the story of the fight, not punch stats.

All of a sudden haters acting like Bud is this defensive wizard like Floyd or something when he never was. Thats not his style. Bud takes risks. Even in fights where hes scored the KOs Bud has had close hard to score rounds.. from Porter and Brook to Benavidez..Madrimov had his moments but all in all not enough..Comment

Madrimov should have got the decision or at least a draw in this fight. He dictated, came forward, pressed the action and controlled everything that Crawford did. The biggest downside is that because of the way Crawford fought (and not dissing) to not exchange much and fight off back foot is that the fight that should of been made with Canelo isn’t going to happen. I really wanted to see if Bud could hang with Canelo and was looking forward to that fight.Comment

This is silly. Madrimov went into the fight bragging that Crawford couldn’t take his power and spent the actual fight doing a bad imitation of Dmitry Bivol with all the feinting and scattered bursts of offense. I’m not anxious to see Madrimov fight anyone, much less Crawford again.Comment
