We keep hearing about Turki paying so much for fights. I've never heard any specifics though. Is he paying crazy money for every fight , or just the big ones. Anybody know ?

I think he is paying crazy money for all fights. Below is the complete list of salaries from the Crawford vs. Madrimov event.
      • Terence Crawford ($2,500,000) def. Israil Madrimov ($750,000)
      • Jose Valenzuela ($500,000) def. Isaac Cruz ($1,500,000)
      • Andy Ruiz ($900,000) vs. Jarrell Miller ($450,000) ruled a majority draw
      • Martin Bakole ($375,000) def. Jared Anderson ($660,000)
      • David Morrell ($750,000) def. Radivoje Kalajdzic ($350,000)
      • Andy Cruz ($200,000) def. Antonio Moran ($37,500)
      • Steve Nelson ($50,000) def. Marcos Ramon Vazquez ($12,500)
      • Ziyad Almaayouf ($40,000) vs. Michal Bulik ($10,000) ruled a majority draw
I could not believe that Anderson was paid $660K and Morrell $750K. They have nobody of note on their track record.

Yeah, he's not operating with an eye on Profit and Loss. When you are really rich and funded by a very rich country trying to make a name for themselves, it's hard for normal businessmen/promoters to compete.

The real question is, how long is this gonna last?

Essentially Sports reported a 100 million dollar pay out with a list of minimums for each fighter. After the fight, Total Sports reported that Crawford would take home approximately $8 million after all is said and done.

Berlanga's biggest qualification is that he's not named Benavidez

Would have been disrespectful and unprofessional of him to negotiate before his clash with Berlanga. He did the right thing but it's easy to do the right thing when you are guaranteed 35 million per fight. Turki got his feelings hurt and took his ball home.

With all due respect Canelo is legit fighting Berlanga in a month you don’t just skip camp to start negotiations for another fight. The Crawford fight if it were to happen needs to wait.
