"the playing of the Saudi national anthem before a main event featuring no athletes from Saudi Arabia"

I have literally seen the US national anthem played before fights with no US fighters in so whatever on that one.

The most disappointing thing was how many empty seats there still with for say the Bakole fight is there any point in a deep undercard if people don't show up. Honestly I would have more understood some one leaving before Crawford and Eninem ;-)

Being on the East Coast it's tough to stay awake or focused.
I fell asleep or passed out during the Miller/Ruiz fight only to wake up around three in the morning, Ended up finishing watching the fights around 6am.
      Too old for this crap.
Oh and reading Raskins article I started falling asleep half way through.
Eric, you could have said the same thing in less than half the words.
or split it between two articles...

I spoke to fans who watched the event and many never saw the Crawford v Madrimov fight because they fell asleep.

Besides writing over and over and telling Turkie that Canelo v Crawford made no sense, the point was proven beyond any doubt Saturday night.

Crawford is a very good fighter at 140-147. But.a careful look at his resume, how can anyone refer to him as an ATG? He struggled against a fighter on Saturday that was 7-0 and relatively unknown. Where is Crawford’s SRL, Hearn, Hagler, Duran, Tito, Mayweather, or DLH? To call him an ATG is as ridiculous as thinking he could beat Canelo even with his diminished skills.

Now that the point has been proven, focus on Crawford v Boots and Canelo v Benevidez. If Canelo and Crawford want no part of that move on already. Boots v Stanionis is a good fight.

Shakur and Haney are two boring overrated fighters. Match them against each other and get it out your system already.

Zhang v Bakole makes sense because you know there will be fireworks.

You want to give Anderson another chance, match him against Agit Kabayel.

Bam Rodriguez v Junto another firecracker

Tank v Zepeda or Teo a must see.

Virgil Ortiz v Tim Tszyu, let’s get it on!

The Saudi’s want to improve their image. Put women in the show. Most have more action than any men fighters. A 147 pound round Robbin would be awesome because that’s where the best female fighters are at. You have Katie, Jonas, Ryan, Habazin, Cameron, Price, and believe me, Serrano can fight at 147 with all the weight she cuts. That’s a great tournament.

Turkie, if your advisors aren’t coming up with those fights, get people who are independent and not Hearn, Warren, and Spencer Brown who are in you pockets and are no more than your personal lap dogs.

It was the strangest presentation of a U.S. boxing card that I've ever seen. The displays of "respect" for the Sheikh were particularly bizarre and went too far -- and I'm on the "progressive" side of the spectrum. I didn't know if I was watching a boxing match or the Saudi Arabian answer to the Church of Scientology.

The event ran over because of the excessive non-boxing portions of the show. They can do plenty more to tighten up the runtime of a show like that. It was an excellent card.

I say, bring on the fights! Come one, come all! Bring on the BIG fights! I used to watch baseball every day, sometimes more than one game a day. Why not boxing? Fans can choose what they want to watch. Boxing needs more fights, not less.

I stopped reading this thread after the second page... No sense in preaching to the choir... people are right as rain about the situation. We simply cannot complain when someone stacks a card like this. I have no love for the Saudis, None... but felt that way about King as well and in both cases, they are giving people quality cards.

The events could be organized better... I have never liked these concerts. I never gave a shiat about the half time show at the Superbowl and even stopped caring about the National Anthem being sung (Murica), when every entertainer tries to show off, half of them actually forget some of the words, and seem averse to simply singing the song properly... which is actually a beautiful experience. Less time between fights, no old rappers before the main event (let the concerts open for the fight to draw in the casuals).

I don't mind the promoter getting TV time... Better that than the idiots here who are actual fans of the promoters! Saudis are saving boxing... Now if they would treat women better than livestock!

No progressive has any love for the Saudis. But with that said "His excellency" is an Honorific, and it tends to sound strange when used in a language like English.

I'm all for super cards and super fights, the main event start was extremely late but you can hatch those things out. All that said, we don't need to complicate things, how about we start with something simple like the best fighting the best? Or how about something as simple as fighters fighting their mandatories instead of running from them?

Fighters are the ones complicating things, it could of been as simple as Canelo fighting Benavides, Crawford fighting Ennis, Tank fighting Stevenson, or either of those guys fighting Zepeda. It's pretty simple but all these guys need to grow a pair and actually take the risk, that's what brings greatness and it's what fans want....
