This is dangerous
I do not box; My athletic endeavors have involved baseball, olympic lifting, and powerlifting at the collegiate level. Serious strength athletes take nutrition seriously, because they know it matters. To think that nutrition is worthless is down right dangerous. It is this kind of attitude that keeps American athletes down. The Europeans, Russians, & Chinese have a totally different attitude, and it is slowly but surely showing up in their athletes. Boxers are not lay people. They put their bodies through stresses that most people are not exposed to. It is folly to think that you can eat like a lay person and perform at your maximum. Small factors like being vitamin d, iron, or b-vitamin deficient can really bring your training and performance down. Of course, some people eat and train like **** and still perform well- this is the exception, not the rule.
Lampley had it right when he gave his commentary about the outcome of the Arreola-Klitschko fight. Discipline and dedication matter. Dedication means doing all those things, even the little things, which can help you progress. I imagine that Vitali leaves out no detail, especially nutrition. Some things are truly overrated. Nutrition is not one of them.
