  • So I guess Benavidez and Morrell are not really what many used to believe

Still somebody believes they can take belts at 175 right now? Not with Bivol and Beterbiev around.

But I would watch benavidez -Morrell, that would be a great fight, at 168 or 175.

Going up in weight is no joke. That's not an inconsiderable part of why Bud wasn't able to stop Madrimov, along with Madrimov being way better than people expected. By the time either are settled into the weight, Beterbiev may be retired or old enough, and Bivol, well, they've at least got the puncher's chance there. Upsets happen, however unlikely they seem. I sure wouldn't pick either David to beat either Russian if that fight happens next for them though, barring one of the champs entering the ring injured or something.

Benavidez looked significantly better in his fight at 175.

You need to also keep in mind that gvozdyk and hot rod are durable seasoned vets, not exactly easy guys to have a coming out party on

I think both looked mediocre against tough guys at the new weight. I thought Morrell lost. I thought David almost did.

But both did what Crawford did- took a first fight at the weight with a tough guy.

That said, I don’t think either beats the Bivol/Bieterbiev winner.

Bena did more damage while also taking more damage

            he needed a breather

I think Bena edged Morrell as he had the better opponent

both of those eastern euros were game and came to win

              they chasing paydays

either could have went after Mbilli or a host of other names at 168 if Alvarez isn’t an option

The David’s have a lower chance of winning against Bivol

Mbilli has turned down mandatory fights vs Morrell for years now. Take a look at the top 10 for the WBA for a look at guys who have turned down Morrell. That fight could have happened any time if Mbilli wanted it, but high risk, and the only reward would be a secondary belt with an organization that doesn't enforce mandatory shots vs the main champ. Morrell was mandatory for Canelo since January 2021, and defended his spot 6 times.

                  Damn that’s pretty ghey

so these top 168 guys are all camping out for an Alvarez fight rather than facing each other

Shame because Mbilli is a beast and fun to watch. The purest swarmer today

And yet, neither guy (Gvozdyk or K) ever turned up any heat in these fights.
