Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford is forced to find a new way to win

So accustomed are we to seeing Terence Crawford figure out his problems without the help of others, it both comes as a surprise and inevitably leaves room for debate when Crawford has no option but to look elsewhere for assistance, certainty.

Great fighters always find a way to win, even when they are faced with a difficult style in a close fight. Mayweather did the same in the first Castillo fight and in fights with Maidana and Oscar. Crawford had to do it yesterday, but it the end he found an extra gear when he needed it.

Totally agree but I didn’t see Bud losing yesterday
      Just my opinion
Although in the 11th and 12th he did kick into that extra gear

I was going to bring up the Mayweather comparison as well - the best 8 round fighter in all of boxing for many years. Crawford can beat any style and the way that plays out depends on the style of his opponent. This fight reminded me a lot of Bud's fight against Viktor Postol (also the last time Bud went the distance). I think 116-112 was the right score. Madrimov didn't win more than 4 rounds imo. Constantly feinting without throwing isn't the way to win rounds. It definitely wasn't the most exciting fight, but it was a skillful one. Madrimov is a great fighter. Fortunately, all the other possible fights at 154 (Fundora, Tszyu, Ortiz, Bohachuk, Murtazaliev) would be a lot more entertaining and should all end in a KO.

I'd like to see Bud go for undisputed at 154 instead of chase Canelo. I'd love Crawford to fight Fundora next (hopefully in December) and for Tszyu to fight the winner of Bohachuk-Ortiz (who I think will be Ortiz). Then if Bud beats Fundora (I think he would) he could either fight Murtazliev or the winner of Tszyu-Ortiz-Bohachuk.

Seems to me that BrankoB agrees with us that Bud pulled out the W.

Big fan of Crawford. Loved the first Omaha crowd I saw him fight. The Oracle wearing red Nebraska tracksuit in the crowd.
I thought he’d beat Spence, and he did. My brother said he’d have trouble with this Uzbek and he did. Bud despite what some people wanted you to believe looked small vs Madrimov at least in comparison to the rest of his fights which makes sense. I had it close. A draw would have been fine, Bud did step it up last two rounds which could have been the difference on those 115-113 cards. Course we will see how many rounds the judges actually agreed on. Both took the punches well. Everyone feels ****** about Canelo at 168 now, but that’s how boxing works. I can’t imagine Bud even at 160.
Good experience for Madrimov who can still make a great career.
I miss the cards from the 90s when it was pure business time. Way too much hype and pomp these days. I don’t need endless rap songs and celebrity cameos. Course I did like when they played “La Chona”.

Not sure how anybody could say he was losing the fight
              Madrimov was throwing sparingly

I did not see Bud loosing either. I thought it was 8 rounds to 4 with the benefit of the close rounds going to Madrimov.

Absolutely. I never thought he was in danger of loosing. Madrimov did not do enough and could not do enough. If he pressed the action more he would have been countered badly.

I had it 9 to 3 but I was engaged in chatter with my daughters who are increasingly enjoying the sport lol
