I see no point in being so secretive in a very high profile sport. No one is perfect. It's better to lay it all out there and people would be more understanding than you expect. Bob Arum was very open when he was having squabbles with HBO. Hearn have admitted having been too aggressive in his tactics squandering DAZN money during his initial inception to boxing. Heard Hoya admitted mistakes and so on.

I'm seeing less PBC shows, despite the Amazon deal.

Amazon isn't bank rolling the PBC, they simply provide a platform and the PBC doesn't have money. The PBC burned through the pension fund and the free networks that can no longer absorb the loss. They have very few in-house fighters that can support a PPV and they don't have Showtime footing the bill for the up and coming fighters & one sided in-house fights they had in the past. Most of the PBC's stable were stolen from other promoters and many are self promoted which means the fighter foots the bill and young fighters don't have that kind of money. Al Hayman will either find a slush fund or purchase a network similar to ProBox or go back to the networks he once tried to put out of business and hope the network and promoters will work with him.

Unless I'm missing something the PBC is on life support.

True indeed, he was, however, that was a different era. The social tides were moving in a different direction then. This era has GLOBALLY seen the resurgence of race and ethnic based nationalism map famously used through manipulative tactics by various politicians. You can’t make a picture film these days without the basement mafia spewing their dark triad propaganda on so called “social” media. Had Haymon come along in the 80s or 90s he would have been better received. We live in socially regressed times where much of the progressed gained in America has traveled to “parts unknown….”

yeah, social media sure has ruined boxing discourse. When I was coming up, I couldn't have cared less who was promoting a card, as long as the fight was good. I still don't care, for that matter. I actually do still hope we will see more PBC fights on Amazon. I hope for their sake that Canelo vs Berlanga sells, but that's not a fight I'm interested in....nor is it's main support Lara vs Garcia. It's the least essential card of the year.
