I have seen Joel Diaz on the losing end a many days and this won’t be the last time he walk off with his head down saying what could we have done differently!

I agree. I have yet to see a single fighter who didn't struggle with Fundora who is a freak of nature. I never use amateur fights or sparring matches as a gauge of who wins a pro fight. Otherwise, Dubois would not have beaten Hygrovich and Bowe would not have beaten Gonzalez, the amateur Cuban star who beat him in the AM's. And countless other examples. I look at styles, size, age, skills, to come up with who I think will win. I do expect a really good fight for a few rounds or more.
Why ever compare Fundora and Crawford, especially in a gym spar? Fundora is such a physical anomaly that almost anyone is going to have some difficulty adapting to him. Crawford is the favorite for a reason, but I think he's going to get tested this weekend by a version of Madrimov who is at the peak of his prime.Last edited by richardt; 08-01-2024, 01:23 PM.Comment

I've learned not to scream in the corner and be patient. Im not fighting so i gotta be the calm one. A coaches vibes really rub off on a fighter. And Joel always coaches with urgency even if his fighter is winning. An anxious fighter makes big mistakes and it zaps their energy.Comment

I compared them because they have Pro Style compare to Madrimov who had an extensive Amateur record which didn't mean much as he struggle vs Fundora.

Who has Madrimov beaten even slightly compare to Crawford level? Not only does Madrimov have little pro fights, but his opponents have been C to maybe B Level.
Skills, Speed, Defense, Precision, Experience, reach all favor Crawford.
The only thing I give Madrimov thee edge is his size. The power can be debated on who has more.Last edited by boxingitis; 08-01-2024, 03:02 PM.Comment

As usual, Crawford will hit him with shots he will not see coming. The question is whether Madrimov can absorb those without going down like the last 11 fighters in a row that goes back to 2016.Comment

The reason being he wanted a title at 154 and Fundora was not available (because Spence fight was lined up already). Crawford wants to be undisputed in 3 weight divisions which nobody has accomplished. This is the first step towards that goal. He did not pick Madrimov because he is easy. To be undisiputed he has to beat them all. The order of fights does not matter.Comment
