He just hasn't connected with fans of any race from what I've seen. A mixture of having a lack of big name opponents and a reserved personality. It's a shame because he may be as good as Floyd but his career hasn't been as high profile.

A 6 month cycle where first two monthes post fight you heal up your body and relax, two month to start losing the weight you gained and exercise back into a routine, and two month to do full training camp leading up to the match should be doable.
Inactivity is the biggest issue in this sport. Obviously, fans are just okay with it as this thread proves.

He’s not as great as Floyd was inside the ring no matter how dominant he has looked against his opponents. Crawford has the punching power, he’s exciting to watch, and he has the killer instinct(great finisher), all the recipes for a marketable PPV boxer, but yet, he still can’t measure up in terms of being a marketable boxer in comparison to the likes of, Canelo,Tank, Joshua, Fury, etc. Floyd understood the rule of this ruthless boxing game, he had brittle hands, and his punching power didn’t carried over to 140, 147 and 154, and yet he still bet on himself and took over both financially and from a legacy standpoint and was the best of his previous era regardless if some naysayers are still in their feelings after he defeated their favorite boxer/s. Crawford wants to be authentic and do things his own way with the same financial end result like a Canelo, Tank, etc, but it doesn’t work like that.

Bud has been his own worst enemy. Inactivity and not using the momentum after the spence fight has cost him. How could you rank Bud Over Inoue or Usyk when both Inoue and Usyk have fought 4 and 3 time within the same year Bud only fought once? it's a what have you done for me lately type vibes.

What Joe Frazier said to Marvin Hagler applies 100% to Bud

"You have three strikes against you, "You're black, you're a southpaw, and you're good."

It's easy to look great when you have 40 fights, and the only guys with any name value are shopworn or completely shot versions of Gamboa, Khan, Brook, Porter, and Spence. And Spence was nowhere near as aggressive or effective post car accident as he was beforehand. Between Crawford not beating a single top level fighter without an *, crying "racism" at his promotional company, and fighting ONCE a year for the past 5 years, it's not surprising that casual fans don't know (or care) about him.

Most of us here have been watching him for at least a decade, from when he was 26 up until 36, and his only fights against name/PPV draw guys are the ones I mentioned. During the SAME 10 year stretch of his career, Floyd beat Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, Canelo, and Maidana x2. I can't imagine why, considering the massive difference in name recognition AND quality of the fighters fought during this time period, Crawford has failed to become a box office draw. Him vs Spence was supposed to be a "mega-fight"...but it drew something like 700K PPV buys, whereas Floyd did 1 million vs Marquez, a tune up fight.

Bottom line, Floyd switched up his persona when he realized it could make him a lot more $ to do so. He then bought out his contract with Arum, started his own promotional company, and he ended up becoming the biggest draw in boxing history. The fact Crawford apparently thinks he's above doing so, is the reason why he never got over 200K PPV buys until the Spence fight. "Racism" has nothing to do with it.

Inoue? Dude went life and death with 40yr old ghost of Donaire, imagine if that happened to Crawford.

Is it because Crawford is black? Is it racism?

Crawford and AJ are the 2 biggest examples I can think of at the moment. Thier cardinal sin was being promoted by Arum and Hearn. If either guy signed with PBC, they would instantly go to #1 on every list.......
Which group of posters have said this about either?
Please give concrete examples. I don’t recall seeing this.

There are surely other conclusions one can draw if they choose to not force everything into their agendas or false narratives.

Crawford was criticized by a lot of posters, regardless of race, for continuing to sign with TR above 140 knowing he would be fighting lesser caliber opposition.

He was then applauded for taking the PBC deal by all the same people because it meant the Spence/Crawford fight would get made.

What exactly is wrong with this?

Personally, I insist on it because it's a great matchup. One of the top 3 in all of boxing - that I still favor Crawford to win.

Why wouldn't people want to see it, is the question?

Back to the op. If Bud dominates Madrimov, he'll be hailed as the greatest of all time again until Inoue or Usyk's next bout.

Fighting once a year is the norm nowadays.
