Speaking of hypotheticals, if Mercer upsets Rahman and then fights Holyfield, maybe one of the sanctioning bodies could find an excuse to strip one of the champs and have the winner of 48 yr old Mercer vs Holyfield become champ.
IMO Holyfield is ahead of Lewis P4P all time better fighter. And, the reason is of what Holyfield did at CW. You match that with what he did at HW. Then I think he is the better fighter. However, I think Lewis goes down as the better HW. If that makes sense. P4P wise Holyfield is better and ranks higher. HW wise Lennox is better and ranks higher.

What I don't agree with is Holyfield beign near-prime when Lewis beat him, Evander's prime ended back around the time he retired with the heart problem after the Moorer loss. He was quite past his best by the time he fought Lennox.
I agree with you. He was. Holyfield was passed his prime when he beat Tyson. And, people forget that Evander was huge underdog in that fight. Nobody gave him a chance. Everybody thought he was done. And, he was passed his prime. But, Tyson was also way passed his prime is just that nobody really realized it at that time.

He has a decent case for winning the second fight (Lewis probably got it though). The first fight was a terrible decision though, and I'm a huge Evander fan.

I don't think a prime Lewis could have beaten the Holy that beat Dokes.
He was just too active, and in tremendous shape at that time. You guys forget that Holy hasn't done half the roadwork he did early on in years and years.
Hence the sorry ass Ruiz fights and the Lewis fights.

The Holy that beat Savarese ain't beating VK, his reflexes are shot and his tank's empty, which I hate.

How does he have a case for the 2nd fight? He was decisively beaten, closer than the first one but still clear.

Evander's mum doesnt even think he won the first one.
