Comments Thread For: Israil Madrimov fueled by challenge of battling the best in Terence Crawford

Israil Madrimov has made no secret of his admiration for Terence Crawford. But there may be one thing that rates as highly in Madrimov's book as Crawford: beating him.

It'll be interesting to see the weigh-ins.

Seven more pounds, for a 36 year old, who hasn't boxed professionally in a year, and has never boxed at this weight. Granted, it's Terrence Crawford.

It wouldn't surprise me if Terrence wins. It also wouldn't surprise me if he lost. Or if it was a draw.

This might be like the Jeff Horn fight, a tough guy who was taken apart round by round. Madrimov will have trouble with Crawford's slickness. Would like to see an upset, just for fun.

Are you telling us you are 33.333% sure about any of these three outcomes?

It is an interesting fight in that while I personally think Crawford wins, I truly won't be surprised with any common result ie generic KO/decision/draw. In fact I probably could make a totally hindsight biased I-told-you-so post for both of them right now.

If Crawford wins via KO: Can't believe how anyone could've expected anything else, Crawford haters were really desperate and basically begging Madrimov to do the miracle and hyping him up but Crawford is just too good, too strong, and too experienced.

If Crawford wins via decision: Like the 7lb jump really matters, given that Bud is a big and fit guy with the reach advantage so size really was more meritful for Bud. If anything credit to Madrimov for not getting KOed but in the end Crawford isn't a power only dude, he's a damn slick fighter with one of the best boxing technique, of course he mostly shuts out Madrimov.

If Madrimov wins via KO: That is why divisions matter, Crawford fanboys underestimated the effect of division difference but not everyone can jump divisions and go for the best in the first match. Not to mention Crawford takes a while to get settled into a new division given how long he stayed at 147, plus he is old and inactive. I bet he was just hoping to cash out against Canelo and was underestimating Madrimov but this guy, despite the lack of experience is a damn tough and strong live champion of 154.

If Madrimov wins via decision: Crawford is getting old, and the fact that he didn't do anything for over a year after Spence doesn't help. Father time is undefeated, and the combination of old age, inactivity, and going to new division for immediate title fight was asking for trouble.
