Comments Thread For: Heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma hammers Mariusz Wach in two

Moses Itauma took just two rounds to bomb out the usually-durable Pole Mariusz Wach. Streaking 19-year-old southpaw prospect Itauma is now 10-0 (8 KOs) and he made a positive start, firing out a quick jab and backing Wach up early with a short counter right hook.

Fighting a 44 year old! I will keep an eye on him when his opponents get a tad younger

Its up to you but I'd recommend keeping an eye on him now because this kid is the future of the H/W division. H/Ws who have fast hands & can put punches together are rarer than Reform UK candidates with IQs over 90. Ali, Patterson, Louis, Dokes, genuinely not many others. Holyfield & Liston could put punches together well but they didn't have very fast hands. Tyson had fast hands & he proved he could punch in combination v Pinklon, but usually he just went head-hunting. H/Ws just rely on jab, R/H. You almost never see H/Ws put combinations together like Itauma does. I gotta admit, I'm high on the boy, I think he the truth.

Same old flattening bums like many HW prospects before him. Have to see him With a live opponent he looks good beating up old men.

Agreed, and because of his age, that was difficult to watch. When I was 20 or 30, I wouldn't have found any joy in beating up a 44 year old.

I guess you fight whoever they put in front of you, but yeah a little sickening. at least it didn't last long.

Itauma looks like a real talent, but there´s no point fighting someone so much slower. This fight tells us absolutely nothing.

If Itauma wants to emulate Tyson he needs to give his promoter a kick up the jacksie.
If my memory serves me Tyson had 26 fights in a year & a half ending with the title.
I like what I'm seeing atm but needs to get a move on.

                he's not breaking Tyson's record.

he's going to turn 20 in about 5 months time when Usyk v Fury II happens

Even if the heavyweight belts on the line in that fight were to get fragmented after that fight, there's still fighters high in the rankings that will get vacant title shots and there'll be a back log of mandatory fights.

The only way he ever fights for a world title when he's 20 is if King Turkey puts up a load of money for someone with a belt to fight him with the sole purpose of him trying to become the youngest HW champ ever.

aside from that, theres almost no chance he gets the opportunity to break that record. So they need to forget that and just concentrate on building him properly instead. Hopefully with better opponents than Wach turning up for some dough.

Match him up with Jared Anderson, he seems to be coming along very slowly and would be a good gauge of where he is at this early stage.
