GGGs MW run.......the softest run in the history of the sport. I can't think of a single opponent that stood out.

Hopkins gets lauded as having achieved a ton of middleweight title defenses, but itâs not exactly who he beat during those title defenses that gets praise, but rather the number. They donât all have to be AAA fighters (cause youâre fighting mandatories, not cash cows), but theyâre usually solid enough to offer some resistance and occasionally if you show up less than 100%, they might just pull out the rug from under you.
Lemieux, Macklin, Jacobsâ¦theyâre good wins for GGG.
Hopkins had 20 title defenses. I can name maybe four or five but a detractor could go and pick it apart pessimistically and say, âGlen Johnson wasnât that good, Trinidad was blown up, Joppy was chinny, etc.â And then weâre left with whatâ¦? His other 17 opponentsâ¦? Whoâ¦? Allen? Echols?
20 and 21 middleweight title defenses is good in my humble opinion.
Now we can go back to torching Canelo vs. Berlanga.

At some point, credit has to be given where credit is due for GGG. 21 defenses is not something thatâs achieved frequently even for all time greats.

This thread should be about Nelo vs Berlanga. Who is just as worthy as Benny. Neither guy has a resume worth taking seriously. So, it's a matter of which boogeyman has the most ''fan(s)'' (AKA Nelo haters)
People say Benny is more worthy due to his ranking. There have been plenty of ranked bums.
When we look at their resumes, no one stands out.:
As for GGG's run, absolutely no one would give Nelo a bit of credit for that shlt
So called fight fans have been shltting on him for years !
Shot Mosley would have a really good shot cleaning out those names.
GGG fans also conveniently ignore that ''anyone from 154-168'' promise he made.
Sat around waiting for that cash Nelo fight to materialize.
Instead of chasing greatness.
GGG's rep couldn't survive an L to anyone but Nelo (Maybe Ward but that L would might have been fatal).
Hopkin's resume smashes GGG's. I guess, when looking at it in it's entirety, his run looks more impressive ?

Those are fair points.
I think the first GGG-Canelo fight was shaky, but I thought Canelo was more convincing in the second. Both were close, but I see where you’re coming from.
Beating Bivol in a rematch where everyone would have Canelo as a major underdog would be a big deal. I think Bivol is a more difficult mountain to climb because Bivol is naturally bigger, fine tuned boxer, and just absolutely disciplined.
If I were Canelo, I’d take Benavidez over Bivol in a heartbeat. Canelo can’t beat a 175 pounder of that caliber.Comment

Quote this lovingly if you're a true unbiased fight fan.....
Qbert
DooDoo
Plant (Unanimous best W)
LeMeh
Davis
Ellis
Angulo
Dirrell, eh
Love
Gavril 2x
Luna
Mamamia
Douglin
That ''monster''/''baddest man since Mike Tyson'' tag is well earned!
This is exactly the resume Nelo needs/needed to earn the respect of haters
