Nelo still has the best resume among active fighters.

People just expect much more from Nelo than they do the fighters they root for.

The middleweight division is bereft of talent. Even so, Danny in no way shape or form deserves a shot at the title. He hasn't fought at middleweight ever, hasn't fought at all in about 2 years, has only competed above 147 once, and spent the bulk of his career at 140. But the WBA is sanctioning it. Nonsense. The WBO was right to not allow Keith Thurman to fight for Tszyu's belt. And I like Danny, and Erislandy (and Keith).

Boxing is so lame in the way it operates and it's getting even worse. I looked at Danny's fight history and a couple things stood out to me. ONE: when he was the reigning unified WBA, WBC, and Ring light welterweight champ he fought a voluntary against Rod Salka, who wasn't ranked or regarded. There was a lot of blowback and the belts didn't end up being on the line (a catchweight was agreed to). TWO: Danny (I reiterate, Ring champ at 140) fought 3 times above 140 (Salka, Peterson, Malignaggi) before he even got a title shot for the vacant WBC belt (against Guerrero).

Fast forward to this fight. Everything on the Earth is devolving, including boxing. Entropy at work.

All that being said, Erislandy Lara vs Danny Garcia is a fight I'd like to watch. But, I'm not buying this PPV or stealing it.

This is crap good luck spinning Berlanga as a credible fighter.

This is not the way I envisioned Nelo spending his last few fights

The odd thing is that actually think Lara vs DSG is more competitive, with the heavily declined Cuban having good odds of beating the inactive and quite physically smaller Garcia.
I like Erislandy Lara in this one. Like you said, Lara is bigger, longer, and more active. Plus, that Cuban background. He doesn't have the legs he used to, but that's been better for us fans over the last several fights, going back to his fight with Hurd. But, Danny probably still has good movement/quickness. A left hook is a great weapon against a southpaw and that's Danny's money punch. Garcia doesn't take too many chances, so I don't think it will be a barn burner. More like a tactical affair.

At least the belts weren't on the line for that one.

Maybe, but when you put it into context, and realize any W he has over a future HOFer took place when his opponent was 35 or over. He has a longer career, so he may have compiled more, but I think Usyk's run at Cruiser plus his Heavyweight run is better than Canelo's best run, maybe same for Loma too.

The ATG Canelo fighting everyone but Benavidez.
Hopefully he fights Connor Benn next.

                    No maybe's about it.
I always find it fascinating how some fighters are embraced, without having to PROVE themselves.

''He KO'd a bunch of guys, doe !''

Benny got no grief fighting Plant, LeMeh or DooDoo
I'd place Berlanga at least in that group.

Nelo has done more than enough
It's time to put other fighters under that microscope.

Lara v Garcia is so cringe

The only reason this fight is even on this card is because Danny's Puerto Rican
