Boxing is a business, a very harsh business with a short shelf-life to make large amounts of cash and restricted to the few. Canelo doesn't owe anything to Benavidez. If Caneo wanted to beat the snot out of DB, he could have done so years ago and just picked-off DB, similar to the methods employed by Mayweather.

Benavidez will crash and burn at LH. Either Bivol or Beterbiev will crush him. But, Benavidez will have gotten his money fight. There is nothing exciting about Benavidez. With Plant as a measure; the so called Monster couldn't put Plant down. Bivol couldn't KO Canelo - if he is DB's opponent, Bivol will flatten Benavidez. Beterbiev, even more so will destroy DB.
Canelo would sell far more PPVs and make much more money fighting Benny so how does that factor into your non-ducking agenda?

Munguia, Charlo, Ryder, Yildrim and Berlanga are way better fights for Canelo than Benavidez. Yes, those are legacy defining fights for Canelo.

Canelo could'nt KO Ryder, Mungia stopped Ryder in 9. How is that for measure mathematics. Opinions in Boxing Scene don't guarantee results. Prior results don't guarantee future results. Intelligent boxing fans don't look at Plant as a measure. Canelo had the chance to cycle through all the mandatories the way he cycled through 4 fighters to get all the belts and in what appears to be just as easy second cycle as the first. Canelo has the chance to "CRUSH" Benavidez while you're hoping that someone in 175 does the job for him instead. I don't know who wins their fight but If Benavidez is food then Canelo left some food on his plate.

Canelo has already sealed his legacy, benavidez lost his opportunity, nothing lost there.

If not for David losing the belts, Canelo would have collected one belt and then tried to move up after pulling a Cruiser down to 170. Or he would have cherrypicked a few weak Light Heavy's and claimed himself a living legend.

in all honesty, Canelo should be kissing David's ass for losing the belts. Without it Canelo is far more of a joke than he is right now.

And I can hear Canelo fans. "You cant know Canelo wouldnt have fought him". I can say this with no doubt. Canelo has never wanted to fight Benavidez. Ever.
Lmfao...you aware benavidez won vacant belts twice right? Just to end up losing them out the ring ,better yet how come benny never even talked about unifying or becoming undisputed, its amusing how you guys keep reffering him as a 'killer' lol but when u check that hit list very few notable names will pop up talk about beating crap champions, cherrypick light heavies? Canelo is 1-1 against 2 LHW WC , meanwhile, Benavidez with all the physical atrributes in favor to compete at a higher weightclass since long time ago, Gvozdyk is his best name so far lol. Stop with the no base crazy assumption man .

Only the fact that a 29-0 Benavidez is finally becoming 'master of his own fate' speaks volume by itself. Canelo and Benavidez career are not even comparable at this point and I believe you know this too.

                Ok. So far we have:

Canelo refused to fight Benavidez because Benavidez was a meanie.

Canelo would have fought Benavidez, but since Benavidez lost the belts, even though he beat the guys to put himself into the mandatory spot two years ago....it isn't Canelo's fault.

Benavidez has been the opponent the majority of fans want to see fight Canelo, it has been the biggest money fight for Canelo for a year, and Canelo himself said he'd only do it for a zillion dollars. He actually got the offer fulfilled via the Saudi's and basically scoffed.

Canelo is pulling damaged guys up from two divisions below him and they show up for the check. He is now fighting the biggest hypejob fighter in recent memory, Berlanga.

Canelo is a GOOD FIGHTER. Benavidez is the biggest challenge and was his mandatory and is a big money fight. If Canelo beats him is the guy who beat a real bad man in the late stages of his career. What he will be remembered for at this point is fighting a bunch of no hopers at the end of his career.

And you know what. Great. He CAN do what he wants, because so many people bought into his incredibly overhyped career and his fanboys see him as "a legend".

But can we just dispense with the excuses and all admit, Canelo does not want to fight Benavidez because he knows he likely get beat? It's obvious. Jesus.

we have to listen to the king, if he says he wont fight mexicans thats fine, he now does once again, he now wont fight mexican americans, ok thats fine too hes the king afterall

now u have to be nice & say nice things to a king im sure thats obvious, because benny didnt do that canelo demands 150 mil to fight him basically killing the fight, now if benny said nice things to canelo calling him a legend the best amazing, canelo would have just fought benny with his usual 35 mil guarantee, thats the power of words
