Several things made Errol one of his easier fights.

Errol relies a lot on physical strength, and cardio. Outside of keeping his guard up and working behind a jab he is purely an offensive fighter. Anytime he gets in any trouble or hurt his answer is to dial up his workrate.

There is nothing wrong with that but the issue is that Crawford has physical strength and cardio as well that matched or exceeded his so he pretty much had no advantage going into that fight outside of what could be argued as durability.

If you factor in outside the ring lifestyle and incidents that only makes things worse.

None of this is said to diminish Crawfords win but that has always beem my honest assessment. Crawford was always going to be a nightmare matchup.

I believe there are fighters around Crawfords weight that are bad match ups for him as well but we have to wait and see if thise fights get made.

Both of them being southpaws made it easier for Crawford to outpoint Spence. Spence was often out of position and off balance when he shot the jab downstairs, he was very slow and methodical with his reaction and timing. Styles make fights for a reason. Crawford will always have competitive or semi competitive fights against orthodox boxers who can force him to be the aggressor.

Spence overreached a whole lot in that fight, he played right into Crawford’s hand and had no answer for Crawford’s counter jab, I was stunned. I thought Crawford would win when the fight got announced, but never in a million years did i thought he would’ve made it look that easy and effortless. I was very disappointed.

That little sparring session between SOG Ward and Crawford is a perfect example on how to fight a guy like Crawford, it will boils down to lead hand and lead foot control, his reach isn’t much of a concern except for when he’s countering with his usual right hook. Crawford doesn’t look invincible when he’s the aggressor, he makes a few subtle mistakes when he gets aggressive and angry hunting for a KO win. Nevertheless, Crawford is a cold mofo who always go for the kill when the opportunity presents itself.

Stylistically, I think Floyd would’ve had a more difficult time dealing with someone like Erislandy Lara than Terence Crawford. Let’s have a debate about it!

Erislandy is the one boxer I’d pick to get outworked by Floyd in the event Floyd was down on the scorecards

for the first time in history you’d see out throwing the opponent being Floyd’s method of victory

T-Bud takes up to 4 rounds to decipher an opponent. And he often gets caught during reconnaissance

Floyd cracks codes at least twice as fast and had immaculate defense from start to finish

I see Floyd winning 3 rounds for every 1 T-Bud takes

he’ll be down on the scorecards with going for the ko being his only option

                Floyd wins 9-3

I'm going to save the whole, "styles make fights" argument which has been used quite a bit when it comes to this matchup. I don't necessarily think Spence did anything wrong I am of the impression, based on the evidence and previous matches from both, that Spence was greatly compromised for that fight for a few reasons:
                  1. Compare Spence's ring walk and previous weight cuts to his previous matches. Spence was glassy-eyed, much skinnier than usual, jab didn't have the same snap, and even though he was never the fastest fighter, his balance was way off, and timing was not where it usually is.
                  2. Crawford has never looked that dominant against any opponent. A one-legged Benavidez, and out of prime Porter, and Jeff Horn did much better against Crawford than Spence who is a level or two above the above fighters. The "styles make fights argument" is thrown out when you take in consideration that fighters with similar styles to Spence( Ava, Horn, and Porter) did much better against Crawford.
                  3. Crawford has been hurt by lesser punchers and Crawford admitted that Spence did not hurt him, not even a bit which is strange since many fighters have spoke highly of Spence's power.
                  4. The car accident took a significant toll on Spence and he has never been the same fighter since.
Note: I'm not saying Crawford wouldn't have won. I am just saying that was not the Errol Spence we have grown accustomed to seeing. We will see where he is at at 154 but I personally think Spence's best days may be behind him due to the accident and his lifestyle. I do not expect Crawford to go through Tszyu, Fundora, Ennis, or Virgil undefeated. Those fighters are just head and shoulders above the "version" of Spence that Crawford fought.

This is how I always saw this fantasy matchup. Crawford is more in the class of Meldrick Taylor, Benitez, Cotto, Ike Quartey, Mosley, and Oscar. Floyd is in the class of Robinson, Leonard, Duran, Chavez, Pernell, Jones, Hagler...etc
