Would be great to see this on the same card as a Tank V Loma

This is one of the few Shakur fights I'd be willing to watch, just to see if Zepeda can really bring the best out of him. If he can stay in first gear against Zepeda, that will tell us a lot about both fighters.

MR has already told Shakur what they would bid for that fight. If GBP bids more for the fight, then Shakur still gets a purse he's happy with. DLH has been consistently reluctant to do business with Hearn, unless he's in a favorable situation. I think the only way this fight happens is through a purse-bid, or if Shakur signs with GBP.

You could be right. Does Shakur want the smoke? Does Zepeda? How this plays out will give us the answer. If this fight doesn't happen, somebody is gonna be labeled a ducker. If Tank vs Loma gets made and Berinchyk vs Keyshawn gets made (the Bobfather already said that's what he wants to happen - and I think Paulie M. made a good point a week or so ago about promoters liking to keep the belt in-house whenever they grab one and position their best talent to be able to hold onto it) then this is the only belt Zepeda has a chance at unless the other fights don't go through. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out. Personally, I think both guys like their chances in this one. May the best man win.

Interested in this particular matchup, camaron could really smother shakur in there he has that all action mexican style throwing heat from unorthodox angles, plus he has a respectable pop so Stevenson would literally need to make a perfect fight and do a lot of running around the ring to overcome initial pressure and be able to pick up round after round. Camaron wants the smoke, would shakur agree to fight him next? Hope he does,he needs this kind of fight after his latest dull performances, no more home crowd early exiting the arena n sht lol.

Zepeda already refused to fight Shakur in the past year or so
Now Oscar comes around and says if Stevenson doesn't sign with him , no Zepeda
I think this would be a turning point in both their careers
            Let’s see what happens lol

There is a reason Golden Boy put Willima Zepeda the same day as Shakur's fight. Shukur is a feather fisted runner at 135. He can't do anything to Zepeda other than Step back, Step back.

I think Shakur can beat Zepeda. Zepeda is a high volume puncher. He doesn't have one punch power. He's an active fighter. It's his accumulative effect that Knocks out his opponents. He's slow. Shakur is fast and has more power than people give him credit for. Folks call him boring, but he looks good against his best competition.

And speaking of competition. This is where I give Shakur the edge. Zepeda has padded his record against lesser opponents. His 32 competitors have accumulated a total of 145 losses. Shakur Stevenson's 22 competitors have accumulated a total of 33 losses. Shakur's advantage is his level of competition. His record isn't padded.

Shakur is called a box office flop, but that's a mirage. The best won't fight him. He does better against his best competitors. Once he starts to get the better fights, his stock will rise.

I have a feeling that Zepeda will be the stepping stone that Shakur Stevenson needs.

Shakur's rep is hurting right now because of his recent performances, so that will be used as an excuse to side-step him. Sean Gibbons (Isaac Cruz's manager) is on record saying that he would not put Cruz in the ring with Shakur because he's boring: https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/boxi...o18a1le3ctmo3k. After the Martin fight, Tank basically dismissed any talk of fighting Shakur because he's boring.

Another way to avoid a match-up is for a fighter to achieve a #1 ranking, but never fight the titlist in their respective sanctioning body. I'm pretty sure Munguia did this when Andrade was WBO titlist. I also think Vergil Ortiz got ranked #1 in the WBO, but never fought Crawford. The tactic that GBP will use is similar: since Zepeda is #1 with other sanctioning bodies, his team will choose the lowest risk option which is Denis Berinchyk (WBO). They will pull out of the WBC purse-bid and go the WBO route.

Another method is to allow a purse-bid to go through, but then pull out of a fight if the promoter loses the bid. No particular examples are coming to me right now, maybe someone can chime in.

Here’s how it works. Assuming the WBC purse bid happens, if Promoter X wins the bid, he then sends a Bout Agreement for each fighter to sign. If either fighter fails to sign his Bout Agreement, then that fighter will be removed from that sanctioning bodies rankings.

Because Shakur is the WBC champ, if he doesn’t sign his Bout Agreement, he will be stripped of his title by the WBC and removed from their rankings. The WBC will then order negotiations between Zepeda and the next highest ranked WBC fighter which is Raymond Muratalla.

If Zepeda doesn’t sign, he will be removed from the WBC rankings and will be free to go fishing for the WBA, IBF, or WBO title if he is the No. 1 ranked fighter in those sanctioning bodies and a mandatory is called.

GBP, Zepeda’s promoter is in a pretty good position because if they don’t win the purse bid, they can wait for the WBA. IBF, or WBO mandatory to become available and take their business elsewhere.

it will be nteresting to see if Matchroom bids because since GBP and Matchroom are both with DAZN, there is an unwritten rule where DAZN does not want them to go after each other’s fighters (Zeoeda). So I doubt if Matchroom bids.

If GBP doesn’t win the purse bid, they would be fools to let Zepeda go fight for PBC (on the Canelo undercard) or TR. Shakur is a 100% money loser if you had to pay him more than 500K, he’s that boring and not fan friendly at all!

Since he’s showtime now and worth so much , seems to me that would shut everybody up
Concerning the fight itself , I think it’ll be a snore fest with Zepeda chasing Shakur around the ring but and this is a big but , if he catches him and Zepeda does what he usually does I think he can hurt Stevenson
This is a fight that has the making of a great fight depending which Shakur shows up ; the fighter or the Reebox running one
I’m inclined to believe that once Shakur tastes the power , it’ll be back to snore fest
If Shakur were marketable, which he’s not, he could form a promotional company and bid. But, since Shakur is a marketing, ticket selling, PPV, bust, no chance of him or his handlers bidding because they will lose bigly. Anyone paying Shakur more than 500K non PPV or 1M PPV is losing money. That’s how bad a draw he is given his ultra boring, for insomniacs only, style is .

GBP has their bases covered. I think GBP will try to make a deal with Team Berinchyk before the WBO announces their purse bid. Muratalla or Keyshawn could be the ones fighting Shakur next.
