Ennis was inactive for a year, and Avanesyan did have a puncher's chance. Maybe Norman or Stanionis could test Ennis' chin at 147.

Spence was good, but Crawford was simply better. Crawford showed that he was P4P-caliber boxer who takes his career seriously, not Spence. I'm not claiming Ennis is P4P or elite, he has to prove that in the ring. I just hope that 147 gets cleaned up, and one man is left holding all the titles.

Boots is the Benavidez of 147: looks phenomenal smashing smaller, inexperienced fighters, looks vulnerable against anyone who can correctly counter.

I like the kid’s moxie in the ring but his defense will get him cracked against someone credible, which he’s yet to fight.

They couldnt be less similar first of all.

I am not sure why fans always assume a fighter's previous performances are set in stone and they are certain to make the same mistakes in future.

Thus far in his career he has fought fighters who are totally over-matched and so as the fight goes on Ennis is in a mode where he is focussed, maybe overly focussed on his offense and looking for the right punches and angles to get the opponent out of there.

When he goes up in level, its a different training camp,different mindset, different game plan. As he goes up in level you will likely see a more balanced approach to offense and defence, however more ambitious fighters will also allow more opportunities to land punches between their punches.

I think you are wrong with the smaller fighter thing also, Benavidez is a high volume swarmer, that style is significantly harder to take through weight classes.

Ennis is a boxer puncher with elite speed and reflexes. That will carry to higher weight classes and actually bigger fighters might have even more trouble dealing with that.

Time will tell...but my opinion is that Ennis is taking something away from himself to make 147, a bit like Cotto at 140. I think he will win a belt or two, but once he moves up to 154lb you will see an even better fighter, and i think many guys at 160lb will struggle to deal with him when he eventually ends up there.

Boots is also huge for the division. Probably more a natural super middleweight. He's still got to fight Stanionis, Barrios, and Norman. Hopefully some of them will fight each other also. I don't put that much stock in him getting hit because there's method to it. Sometimes with tough guys like Avanesyan, you crack with them so they can't tense up to take the shot, and you get them out of there. If yours is landing first or harder, you often don't take as much force because you're preventing their weight transfer. Did you see Ennis get rocked even once?

I would expect him to fight Bud differently, if that fight happened. I would also expect it at 154, not 147, but he needs to hurry up and get the other 3 belts IMO before Bud retires if he wants that fight. I don't really think it's that important, personally. He's got plenty of good fights between the other champs at 147, the likes of Tszyu, Ortiz, Fundora, and maybe Charlo if he ever actually gets back in the ring at 154, and then Janibek and the smorgasbord of undefeated contenders hanging out at super middleweight waiting to fight Ginger.

I don’t think papi Boots will have Norman fighting his son anytime soon although it would make for some great entertainment

He just fought Roiman Villa. Guy is 24 KO's for 26 fights. You don't think he can crack?

Great fighters don't fight every opponent the same way. You make adjustments and have a gameplan.

Your right , a great fighter will be able to adapt to his opponent’s style but also his flaws will be there no matter what
Imo , his last three fights prove he’s very hittable and going against fighters with better ring iq will expose Boots’s flaws way more
And let’s be quite realistic , Villa hasn’t gotten the resume to flaunt about
So yes he does have power but against who ???
