I hated he took the Calzhage fight and let that Welsh slapper clown him. Prime RJJ would have wiped the fooor with Calslappy but he took it for the money and got beat.

RJJ up till the Ruiz fight was something special I’ve never seen speed and power like it since. Once he came back down from HW he never looked the same.

Nah always been my favourite fighter. Was sad to watch the last 10-15 years of his career. Was a real shame Roy just couldn’t let it go. Watching Duran in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s was horrible too. It’s never nice to see a fighter fight way beyond their prime.

        No, it's Covfefe.

Roy def left a big brown smudge at the end of his career. When he won he looked like he didn't care. When he started losing, he looked tha same, but everyone saw what was happening.

Around the time I got into boxing, I was hearing all the hype around Jones Jr. and he was making his comeback against Glenn Johnson. I remember nobody taking Glenn Johnson too seriously in the commentary. That he was basically a solid journey man. He had a bunch of questionable losses, but should have been an opponent Roy should have run right through with no problems. The second the bell rang for rd1, Johnson jumped on Roy and never left off. He kept Roy on the ropes for like the entire 3 minutes. HBO was shocked, but also thought Glenn was acting amateurish for this approach to fight Roy that way. They also thought he wouldn't' maintain it. Fast forward I think 7 rds later, and Roy Jones was KTFO and HBO commentary was in shock.

At that moment, I loved hearing about Glenn Johnson and the underdog story since he was supposed to basically be prey for the lion in the ring and flipped the script. I didn't care much for Jones after that fight and just thought he was a ****y ******. I've since dived into earlier film of him from the 90s and he did appear to have some crazy hand speed. The way he had his hands behind his back and whipped around a hook to drop a dude was nuts. Definitely had some otherworldly hand speed.

Roy & BHop in tbeir prime would have beaten Joe, no doubt about it! Calzaghe waited them out and made them come over across the pond! He’s smart for that but that will always be his asterick! It did cross my mind how he beat the hell out of Lacey! I was tellin’ everybody about Lacy and then he gets slapped around literally the whole fight! Man you gotta admit Joe Calzaghe was somethin’ special! Homie got swag and killer boxing skills!

Nah, he was still my guy, but it hurt to watch guys just doggin' Roy, knowing they wouldn't have stood a chance with him in his prime.
