When one considers how exciting boxing is, how easy it is to follow even with only a rudimentary understanding of what it takes to win a fight, and the incredible characters involved who shape the drama, it's frustrating that the sport isn't (universally) regarded as one of the biggest on the planet

Why not 2 belts per division only? One belt for the Americas and the other represents the rest of the world or the international champion.

That way we still have the exciting champion vs champion fights and thus unified, undisputed champ of the world.

The best thing about having four sanctioning bodies is that it makes it hard to monopolize boxing. That used to be a good thing.

        We can only dream,
I've been saying similar for years that the undesputed should dump the belts & just defend the ring belt. Or now the Saudis are here to stay they make an undesputed belt & phase the alphabelts away.

True. Now we’re at the point where it’s hurting the sport.

That'd be pretty cool. There's so much more room for innovation under one roof.

                I know. It's outrageous!
                And what about the WBU?
I'm thinking about a hunger strike.

                  Because they are bogus.

Don’t forget, old heads are not big on the WBO either.

It also took a long time for the IBF to be fully accepted.

Don't go on to Pt 2 until you've finished Pt 1. You've said nothing at all about the implementation of this proposal. How do we get rid of the current pool of sanctioning bodies? Very weakly presented.
