    Casuals vs Hard-Core Fans

I'm interested to see what y'all definitions of casuals vs hard-core boxing fans are.
For example, would a casual block out time on his/her schedule specifically to catch the live coverage of the Fisher vs Babic fight?
    I say no.

Would a casual know who William Zepeda is? Alexis Rocha? Brandun Lee?
    I say no, nyet, nein.

Who is the most obscure fighter a typical casual fan would know by name recognition?

Finally, is there a reasonable category of fan interest between casual and hard-core?

Casual fan watches big PPV fights, hard-core fan makes it a point to watch boxing no matter who is on.

There's gotta be something in-between, though.
Some of the cards on DAZN from obscure promotions in Berlin, Kazakhstan, and elsewhere are dreadful to watch. I almost always have a look but I don't always stick around and watch them all the way through.
I'll tune in to the OTX shows and other regional promotions that often showcase fighters with real potential in 4 and 6 rounders.

I been on boxing for over 50 yrs I dont waste time watching the average I watch the big time guys and top prospects , hard core is not a flash in the pan for a few years its a deep level of knowledge built over a long time that casuals just dont have, when I was young I watched everything, that changed probably 30 yrs ago.

Of course, there is an in-between. It all depends on each person and how much actual time they can dedicate or want to dedicate following the sport.

These days, watching boxing has become much harder to do. When I was younger, I got my fill watching "Tuesday Night Fights" on USA cable channel, HBO
          , then Showtime.

Nowadays, its mostly You-tube. I have the ESPN app just for Inoue fights though LOL. Watching at live events in different cities is also very fun and memorable.

Casual- those who only care about the whether "their guy" wins regardless of opponent level or the actual quality of the match itself. Don't really care about others not "their guy" Losing leaves a severe drop in the worth of "their guy" in many cases.

Hardcore- care more about the quality and contents of the match, and will still follow boxers that they aren't a personal fan of if the matchup is deemed good. Cares about the quality of the match itself and will be willing to follow after a tough loss as well.

I’d consider myself a casual fan

too many fighters to keep up with all of them
