I don't really get the choice either. Styles ar similar, but Temible is old and slow at this point.
How does Castillo prepare Pacquiao for Cotto?

for one his jab is very accurate and very good and he always finished his inside work with a jab coming out much like CottoThe problem with Castillo as a sparring partner in terms of emulating Cotto, is that he's too one dimensional. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Castillo fan and thought he was one of the great lightweights, but he's a one trick pony compared to Cotto. Cotto's defense is much better, he's able to box, has a better jab and switches effectively between orthodox and soutpaw.
I doubt Castillo can emulate Cotto well outside of the body work.
So outside of being able to throw good body shots, how does Castillo prepare Pacquiao for Cotto?
another he is excellent at cutting off the ring much like Cotto
another he is a great left hook to the body puncher much like Cotto
I dont think he is as fast as Cotto in terms of handspeed and cannot switch to southpaw (which I think Cotto will use as a weapon IMO) but there are indeed some things that Manny can learn from a pressure fighter like JLCComment
