  • Make 3 Changes To Improve Boxing

    1. Immediate rematches mandated on close fights and controversial decisions
    2. 3 fights standard per year for the stars
    3. Same day weigh-ins

  • #2
World title fights 5 judges, 1 on every side of the ring 1 in a backroom watching the telecast, the right fighter should get the win.

Official fight night weights taken as they leave the dressing room to fight and its publicly disclosed, this will show the guy that uses weight to their advantage and will show who don't, the backlash will have its own effect on levelling the playing field.

trial by camera that can overrule the ref between rounds regarding KDs, headbutts, fouls, points deducted, slips and trips

I'd add that a consensus of the judge's scores for each individual round would be used to determine who gets the 10 and who the 9. I hate seeing split decisions just because one judge is off his nut.

I don't think more judges will necessarily make anything better. But judges held accountable after fights where they have to explain controversial cards to the public, and scores get reviewed after the fact.

WBC removed from boxing or taken over by more competent, and less biased people.

Refs warn, and deduct points earlier, and in a more uniform fashion for holding. Which should make fights less scrappy and ugly.

I don't agree with that because only 3 angles are seen , it means there is always a blind side somewhere the more judges the better I think for a closer to reality result, plus its much harder to pay of 5 than 3 .

I like the first two but #3 is there for alot of important reasons that casuals will never understand.

Every year there's a tournament between the top 8 in every division, chosen by a panel of non paid off people. First round is fought, then 4 months later semis, then 4 months later finals. Repeat next year with another 8 chosen, a lot will be the same guys but if you lose in the tournament or aren't in it you fight to get into the next one because the big money is on the tournament.

Also clean punches being worth more than little grazes with no impact made.

Third rule fire the judges from estrada bam

                1. Dock points for running.
                2. Dock points for holding.
                3. Add a Super Heavyweight division at 260 lbs.

                  1. Every belt should be defended twice per year or forfeited, unless fighter holds two or more belts. Then just once per year.

                  2. Same day weigh-ins. (Regardless of whether other posters here call people "casuals" for suggesting this.)

                  3. Limit on clinches per round, and consistent deductions for excess, in all fights.

Also, i dont like the idea of an extra judge watching a screen somewhere else. The last thing we need is mystery judges supposedly watching and scoring fights. The travesties that happen now take place when judges are in full view. How much worse would it be if they get to hide?

                    1. cant mandate immediate rematches because there is no guarantee that anyone would be willing to pay for it.

                    2. economics / tv availability dictates how often people fight. Cannot be mandated. You could however require sanctioning bodies to drop anyone from the to 15 rating spots who has not fought in 12 months, absent a legitimate medical reason.

                    3. TOTALLY agree. If you cut too much weight and your performance suffers or you are injured because of it, well tough break. Fight in your correct weight class next time.

                    and I would add........

                    4. Remove judges from the ring apron. The view sucks, and its too easy to be swayed by crowd response for the more popular fighter. Judges should be sequestered in a different room watching on a monitor with no crowd noise or media commentary

                    5. Judges submitting absurd scorecards should have to account for their scoring in a commission review. Repeated violations should result in suspension and remedial scoring criteria education, or termination.
