Dubois sure got an easy ride to the belt.
I would've thought he and AJ fight to decide the winner of the strap.
Oh well... it should be a barnburner of a bout.

Disappointing. Him on the card would of been a definite upgrade.

The promoters would do well to drop the pretense. But if they won't, then at the very least, the *writers should. Someone has to speak the truth about this.

And I mean no disrespect. I myself could not compete on *anything at even the state (USA) level. I can't fathom the competition at the national level. And the best in the world? They're practically gods.

But that's what it means to be the world's champion. It means to be the best in the *world. Bar none. And no matter what the IBF says, everyone, including Joshua and Dubois themselves, knows that Usyk is *the Heavyweight Champion of the world. Period.

There's no shame in them making this contest. It is on fact, a very high level fight on the world class level. It's just not the championship. That's all.

And more people who love boxing need to speak up and say so to put an end to this nonsense. It dilutes the accomplishments of the greats of the past. It's a shame.

I'll watch Joshua and Dubois with interest, and I applaud them making the contest. I just won't be calling it a world title fight or recognizing the winner as a champion. That road goes through Usyk at the moment.

            Good post Daniel,

The existence of these independent Sanctioning bodies has been the cornerstone of a badly run sport for decades. During the 70', boxing writers took strong issue with their activities and purpose, but you don't see the newer generation of bloggers/writers complaining much anymore, simply dismissing their damage as a nessisary evil.

Who's "Top Ten" are you basing that stuff on???

ESPN? The Ring? Boxing Scene? The WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO?

I am not a troll of any kind, have seen all of those fighters live at least three times and I stand by my horseskit.
The Ring top-10. e.g Pulev was top 7 when AJ fought him. Povetkin was 6 or 7. Wallin was no. 11 (because they have a champion so that makes no. 10 in their list 11)

But we don't even need to do that. Just look at their records. And also remember AJ is 5 years behond Wilder and Fury in his career.

AJ has constantly tried to fight Fury - remember when Fury pulled out because he "forgot" he was contracted to fight Wilder for a 3rd time.

And Wilder too - Wilder is even quoted as saying AJ's team offered him more to fight than Fury did - but he chose Fury. And if Wilder had beat Parker then he would have fought AJ then for sure.

IF AJ is such a managed fighter - why were Wilder and Fury both scared of him? Hearn is not known for keeping his fighters away from hard fights. People are always criticizing him for getting his fighters beat. AJ took 2 Uysk fights back to back for example. He didn't run away like Fury did until Uysk got put down by Dubois and suddenly looked vulnerable

Usyk was a mandatory. It was between fighting him and vacating, which would have made optics obsessed Hearn and Joshua look even worse. The second match was a rematch clause induced fight.

Fury was sent to court and made to fight Wilder a third time. It was Hearn proclaiming 3 years ago that the FuryJoshua fight would be "done in two weeks". I can literally pull out my comments calling out his bull****.

Aa I've said and will say until the end of time. Joshua has always looked good to the clueless dork. I've been fighting and competing for 6 years now and I've noticed how few fighters in any gym I've trained at have held him in that high regard. Why? Because for someone who claims to be willing to fight the top dogs, its bizarre how few times he actually fights them.

People criticise him are those with an ounce of critical thinking skills. I don't read too much into the 5v5 but it is also kinda telling how lacking Hearns boxing brain actually is.

Wlad rematch was contracted for Fury and he found a way to dodge him. AJ does not have to take any rematch... AJ also took the rematch against Ruiz

Sorry that's dumb about Joshua not fighting anyone. Compared to Wilder and Fury - Joshua *does* actually fight the top guys. Explain how Fury has only defended his titles 3 times successfully and he is 5 years ahead of Joshua in his career?? Joshua managed at least 8 times when he was champion.

Who has actually beaten better guys than Joshua? Name them

Fury has turned down THREE fights with Joshua now and constantly says "I will never fight him" (until the Saudis stepped in). Fury also dodged David Price and Usyk so not sure why you think it would be AJ who doesn't want to fight Fury?? And like I said AJ was about to fight Wilder but Wilder lost to Parker. Now Wilder has also lost to Zhang, AJ would be pretty dumb to take that fight (all risk and no reward) until Wilder wins a couple of fights. People want AJ vs Fury, which will happen next (I say WILL because Saudi money is involved now)

Wilder and Fury weren't scared of AJ. Its more they wouldnt put up with Hearns shenanigans playing up to Princess Joshys diva antics.

And Hearn is absolutely known for keeping AJ away from hard fights, and stalling his stable's development. There's a reason why Queensbury thrashed Matchroom 5 zip.
