I doubt he was sent packing cause he was beating Cotto. That doesn't make any sense. On the Contrary. If Figueroa was giving Cotto a hard time, then they have to keep him till Cotto can adjust. My opinion is that Figueroa was probably not in shape and gave Cotto no real challenge during their sparring sessions therefore they sent him packing so they won't have him on the pay role.

I have to say that Cotto's trainer sucks. Cotto is practically training himself. It's well known that Cotto has a very strong character and personality to deal with. He is very stubborn in his ways as per the info that flows through the Puerto Rican Media. At the end of the day, these guys are just going to pound each other silly and strategy will go out the window..... They both like to brawl....... Let's see what happens..... Am pulling for Cotto though... All he needs is a goooood power punch and lights out....

Bad news sometimes turns out to be good news

I can't imagine that Cotto, in preparing for such an upscale fight, to win which would give him enough leverage to make huge purse demands, would be skimping on his training.

I think that Frankie Figaroa was KO'd by Bailey too badly for him to be acting as sparring partner for one of the world's best welterweights. And they realised that he shoulod be resting and recovering, not getting his face bashed in daily.

It is always quite normal to get all kinds of tales coming from the training camps if fierce rivals. It's even been known for some fighters to look bad when the press is around, and then be doing the real training at night behind closed doors.

This way, if his opponent is believing the stories, he won't be well prepared for a sharp tough contest, mentally, I mean, mainly.

since figueroa is fighting rashad holloway on nov.4 he must have gotten the most of it from cotto. figueroa need to train hard for his next fight if he thinks he can beat randal biley in their rematch.

I just looked it up, Frankie was KO'd just a month ago, and is supposed to be fighting again in a months time, but against a light hitter.

Just the fight before before his KO he had a very tough split decision win over Emmanuel Augustus, and, knowing HIM, you can be almost certain that he could have, maybe should have won it.

If I was on the Boxing Commission, I wouldn't let a fighter into the ring again after a KO like that, for at least 4 months, 6 would be better.

So I can't imagine this light welter giving otto any problems.

This is such a bull**** article. I've read all the quotes from Arum. He did not call Pac superhuman, first of all, and about Cotto he said that he looked very good and calm but that he still needs work which is good because he does not want Cotto to peak to soon. This is Arum at his best as a promoter. He knows that Cotto will win and is just hyping Pac a little bit more so that the fighter that will actually remain in his stable (Pac will retire very soon) comes out looking even better. Actually, keep these type of articles coming, hopefully they will help me win even more money when I bet on a Cotto win. Hilarious.
