Who should Haney fight if not Sandor Martin?

Who do you think he would pick?

    According to Hearn:

"The WBC belt is going to become vacant and Sandor Martin v. someone will take place," Hearn told video reporter Sean Zittel. "One-hundred percent, he’s not going to fight Sandor Martin. Who's going to pay for that?”

Hearn predicted that Martin (42-3, 15 KOs) "will want to fight for the world title. Unless Devin boxes that off quickly, you've got to take a tiny payday for that, and I don't think Devin's all about that."

Devin Haney’s comeback fight from the Ryan Garcia loss was intriguing enough for Top Rank on Tuesday to make a $2.42 million bid to stage Haney’s mandatory WBC super-lightweight title defense against Spain’s Sandor Martin.

Eddie Hearn may suggest some names like Catterall, etc., but Haney's got the final word. No gun is pointed on his head. He's a grown up with a very protective dad, Bill Haney.

Haney would be silly to drop the belt. Haney isn’t a big draw and his stock has fallen recently with the loss to Garcia. He should defend against Martin, a fight I think he’ll win, then look to unify against Teofimo.

Why would he vacate to fight Catterall? Makes no sense at all.

Haney is in a tough spot. Ryan’s cheating will keep his record intact, but not remove the image of the beating he took from fans.

I think his best bet is to keep the belt, defend against Sandor, and hope he can unify next.

If not, he needs to find the promoter with the best JWWs and sign with him to hopefully get the best fights.

If he goes overseas as the B side- he could make some good money in a higher profile fight.

He needs a big win to mitigate the Ryan debacle.

Catterall isn’t really a big draw over here tbh.

I think he should try and get the Teofimo fight. Teo has the power to hurt Devin but he also struggles with movers.

Devin lost to Loma and Ryan.
Sandor won against Teo and was given a loss on his record.

The sad state of boxing is that we have these so called cash cows getting gifts while the real hard working dudes are getting badly screwed.

If Haney fought Sandor, do you think the Spaniard would be given the benefit of the doubt in close rounds (and there could be quite a few with how cagey and awkward his boxing is)? That potential fight is destined for the scorecards where Haney will be guaranteed a victory, deserved or not.

It's a shame, Martin should have a win against Teo and Maxi Hughes should have a win against Kambosos. The only thing that matters is potential revenue ....

                    I agree with you 100%

No he will not. They will give it to Haney no matter what happens.

At least Sandor can eat a lot better in Spain than the s h I t we eat here.
