  • Floyd from the Oscar fight vs. the Floyd from Canelo fight: WHO WINS?

Who wins this showdown between 2 Mayweathers at 154?

The 29 y/o prime version that went toe to toe with DLH, or the smarter more calculated one that fought Canelo?

I think Floyd from Canelo was in his groove and more accustomed to being at the weight, in the Oscar fight he wasn't all that long out of the lower divisions and you can see his body carrying more water weight than in the Canelo fight.

Hard to say. I think he lost the dlh fight and he had CW against green fighter in Nelo fight.

Mayweather against Canelo on gear with the experiences under his belt at 36. Too sharp, too athletic, too clean, with superb boxing skills and iq. I think that version of Mayweather beats anyone at 147-152-154. I prefer this version of Mayweather over the Mayweather that fought Gatti.

Let's not deny he started using gear in his mid to late thirties. Look at his body transformation. He went from in his late twenties and early thirties with lean muscles to entirely ripped.

If he used gear I doubt he’d have started then. Likely a lot earlier.

May have just been the style matchup, but the 36 year old May that fought Canelo was maybe the best I've ever seen him.

The combination of experience, natural athleticism and fitness. He was just on that night.

Oscar De La Hoya at his peak, within the 147 to 154 pound division 'Was a better fighter than Canelo Alvarez. The version of Oscar De La Hoya who Floyd Mayweather Junior fought at 154 pounds, beats the version of Alvarez that fought Mayweather Junior'.

Canelo Alvarez vs Floyd Mayweather Junior 'Was the last real top level performance from Mayweather Junior. I don't think Mayweather was at his peak in that fight, but he was still good enough to conclusively beat Alvarez over 12 rounds easily'.

I believe that the Floyd Mayweather Junior who fought Oscar De La Hoya, would of forced a stoppage vs Canelo Alvarez at 154 pounds. And I have stated before that Oscar De La Hoya would of beaten Canelo Alvarez at 147 and 154 pounds.

Oscar De La Hoya may actually stylistically be one of Canelo Alvarez's most difficult fights 'De La Hoya had punch combination ability and speed which rivaled Calzgahe, Jones Junior. Oscar De La Hoya also had a vast amount of gears, solid durability and World level punching power combined with elite level boxing skills'.

Note: But regarding the two versions of Floyd Mayweather Junior? The version who fought Oscar De La Hoya was a better fighter, who was fighting a superior fighter in Oscar De La Hoya at 154 pounds. Floyd Mayweather Junior in retrospect should of been able to force the stoppage vs Canelo Alvarez 'Alvarez was there for the taking in my opinion, if Mayweather Junior would of applied serious pressure'.

To conclude: The version of Floyd Mayweather Junior who fought Oscar De La Hoya, was the best version of Mayweather. Both versions of Floyd Mayweather Junior and Oscar De La Hoya would of beaten Canelo Alvarez at 154 pounds etc.

I preferred watching Floyd’s final form TBE

                TBE would jab

Pre-retirement $ May was a potshot artist who used his superior reflexes

may def looked sharper at the canelo fight and yeah looked more accustomed to the higher weights. seemed like he had more pop too. he was never a big puncher above 140 but he had sharper more snap to his punches with canelo, you could see canelo more fearful of a counter than DLH.

With DLH floyd seemed new to the weight, carrying more water like others said and his punches were soft, its been a while but i know he was wearing grants then switched to reyes sometimes. DLH his punches didnt have the snap or much affect, they were more scoring punches than a snappy counter that deters guys running in.

Floyd boxed as safely as possible to secure the W over Oscar

taking that torch was Floyd’s ticket to stardom

Floyd was nowhere near as conservative in his fights after Oscar
