  • Comments Thread For: Tank Davis Lowers Boom on Frank Martin in an Ode to MGM Grand KOs

Gervonta Davis' destructive knockout of Frank Martin to close Saturday's fight was a fitting addition to any highlight reel of the great stoppages seen among the 100 championship fights hosted at Las Vegas' MGM Grand.

Martin did such good job, had such a great game plan, and was on such a serious path to victory until his pride and got the best of him and he decided nothing would happen to him if he lingered in the corner. That should have been the number one concern coming out of Derrick James in the corner, instead of his non-sensical shadow boxing and mumbling. That guy is just an effin' moron.

What a disappointing effort from Martin trying to outfox and outsmart Davis. He was never beating Davis in a chess match.

Martin was doing a good job of running around the ring and landing a couple good shots. I thought he got tired as Tank casually walked him down and cut off the ring using minimal energy. The only chance Martin had was to run all twelve rounds and avoid Tank’s power.

Yeah, Derrick James is again useless in the corner....

About round 4 you realized that Martin was unlikely to land the big shot and shock the world.
Casuals would think he was running all night, but that was the best strategy they could use. He was winning rounds and I think he felt that power to his body early and knew he couldn't trade.
Tank's ability to see the nuanced vulnerability is more impressive than his power.
In my HUMBLE opinion, Tank beats Cruz, Tank beats Shakur, and Loma needs the big shot

Frank Martin did what was expected. Folks really act like he had a chance against Tank. I had the fight even through 4 - which was as good as it was going to get for Martin. He stopped throwing a jab, had no real power shots, he fought tentatively, and he stayed on the ropes in the corner. He became a dead duck just waiting to get knocked out. He lacked experience and it showed. He fought like someone who wasn't ready for that moment/stage.

P.S. Folks are quick to blame coach James. He did what he could against a fighter that's way better than his guy.

Martin came to survive, Tank came to win! I want Tank vs. Shakur next! It’s Time!!!

I predicted Tank would just be too good for Martin. Easy fight to call when looking at who they have fought.
