I'm pretty sure everyone knows that the one he's implying is Benavidez, but that is more on the alphabet soup not having the balls to force that mandatory when he was still the mandatory (or Morrell for that matter). They both seem to have went past the Canelo waiting game so we'll never know but the hypothetical scenario would've been do you think Canelo would have accepted the mando if Benavidez was actually ordered, which a lot of people think he won't have.

And for clarification I definitely would rather say eff the handshake agreement that is likely there w/Doheny and just replace him with MJ, but if that is not doable due to promotional reasonings then I'm still not giving up seeing it on next spring. Make him the automatic interim champion or whatever, or if easier strip WBA then make MJ fight some placeholder in fall/winter for the belt while Inoue takes care or Doheny/Goodman, then do a re-unification of undisputed for his final match in SB next year before moving up. Or better yet have MJ fight on September at Wembley for whatever opponent and schedule the fight afterwards in winter (eff Goodman, he wasted a month of negotiation time for nothing)

That being said ideally they really should've slapped the mando back in May immediately after Nery so the Goodman fiasco wouldn't have had to happen and no need for a placeholder Doheny. 1.5 month after the last fight and 2.5 month prior to the next scheduled fight where there is a good chance the opponent negotiations are already near concluded is definitely a bad timing on the alphabet soup side for that purpose. Makes me wonder if they were thinking that Inoue/Ohashi would just say eff Doheny we'll join the Wembley with MJ instead or something like that.
