Some of his opponents may have once been extreme fringe contenders (like Abreu) but they weren't at the time Cornflake got to them. Every time he's stepped up, he's lost. The Lara KO was quick, violent and scary. I'm surprised he didn't hang them up after that.

He's stuck around, done some promotional work and may get another decent payday against a name....without ever beating anyone relevant. In a way he deserves it and in another way he doesn't.

All good, except that Abreu came six pounds overweight at the weigh-in.

LaManna was originally scheduled to face Johan Gonzalez before Gonzalez dropped out and Abreu (26-8-1, 24 KOs) became the opponent in mid-April. Only LaManna was eligible to win the belt however, after Abreu missed the weight, coming in officially at 162.5 pounds, though he had to cut a few pounds after weighing in unofficially at approximately 166 pounds.

Incidentally, the odds on an Abreu win by knockout had gone from 3/1 to 2.37/1 in the days preceding the fight. Draw your own conclusions...

The sun was in his eyes when the shot landed. That wasn't the real LaManna up there. I'd like to see a rematch in an indoor venue somewhere. Especially now that Lara's full champ. This could be Cornflake's Rocky moment.

The real travesty....why aren't we getting more articles about Pop Tart Roberts? The guy may be 34-9-6, but he has won his last three bouts by KO and those fighters had a collective record of 6 wins against 45 losses. Pop Tart is on the comeback trail and yet BS ignores him as if he never existed. It's sickening.

Or at least mention Lucky Charms O' Brien. The guy is young and hasn't made his mark, and he is 6-3 with no knockouts. But the word is that he is beast in sparring and that we just haven't seen his magically delicious left hook in the ring yet.

I won't even mention Breakfast Burrito Bandidez.
