A lot of fans say things like, if a fighter can make the weight then it’s all good. So if a weight bully can trim down and then add a ton of weight and beat up smaller fighters like that, it’s all good.

This leads to fighters like Broner (and others). Who look spectacular at lower weights, where they can use their massive size advantage. As they move up, they just can’t compete because their whole entire success relied on weight and not actual skill, raw power, or anything. Just their weight gave them power and that’s it. This creates frauds.

And Broner isn’t the first or the last weight bullying fraud in boxing. I expect Devin Haney to have an even worse fall off than Broner. Because at least Broner was KO’ing the smaller fighters. Haney couldn’t crack even with his 15-20lb advantage. Like Broner, as he fights top guys his own size, or bigger, he’s going to keep taking L after L.

And yeah you could say Pacquiao was smaller than Broner, but that was Pacquiao.

I remember attending the Broner-Demarco fight. Idc what anyone says, that broner was special. Too bad his lack of discipline and lifestyle outside the ring eventually caught up with him.

He did very well...given his lax , party boy attitude , but anyone that's honest will know with the right mindset he could have achieved so much more .

Broner's level was Paulie Malignaggi. When they fought it should have been a Draw or a W for Paulie. So Broner and Paulie were around the same level. Not sure if that makes him the worst 4 div champ but he was never close to an Elite level guy.

Paulie Malignaggi said this over a decade ago. He told Adrien Broner “ they handed you the title” “they’re lying to you” …and people called Paulie a jealous hater for exposing truth. Just like they called Paulie a hater for exposing Pacquiao for using steroids when idiots thought it was natural to move up 8 weight classes while retaining your punching power

Broner was an amazing talent! Only when he fought guys below .500. His first gift was vs Ponce De Leon and that is saying something, because Ponce will never be remember as an excellent Mexican champion. Paulie says Broner was a world class fighter, because he fought him. Other than this the 2 of them weren’t what their mind thought!

gotcha. I always liked Broner. Even after a couple of his losses. But just got hard to rock w him after he stopped throwing punches. The Shawn Porter fight is when I checked out.
