Do I like comparing Zayas to Trinidad at this point, No, but that's because we know what Trinidad accomplished later in his career.
Although that is true about Trindad's 18th, and 19th, opponent's, in his 20th fight he fought the IBF Champion Maurice Blocker 34-3, and knocked him out in 2 rounds.
Trinidad then went on to make 15 title defenses against the best of the division, before moving up to win the 154, and 160 pound title's.
Zayas isn't going to be fighting for the title in his 20th fight the way Trindad did, that doesn't mean that he doesn't stand a chance st coming close, equaling, or possibly surpassing Trindad's illustrious record.
What I'm saying is that it will take a herculean effort by Zayas to even come close to Trinidad one of the most beloved champions that Puerto Rico has ever had.
I hope that Xander Zayas does surpass Trindad's accomplishment's, that would be fantastic, but I had to set the record straight on Felix "Tito' Trinidad's outstanding boxing record.
Not even Zayas' exuberance when bouncing up, and down in his corner as the ring announces his name, comes close to the incredible intensity that emanated from Trindad.
As he repeated his name, and his country along with the ring announcer, no Puerto Rican boxer has ever expressed so much love, and pride for his country.
He was an amazing champion, great human being, and adored by his Puerto Rican people. It's your turn now Zayas, let's go you have some big shoe's to fill.

Like Don King (and I don't like quoting him) used to say, but in this instance it is appropriate "Viva Puerto Rico"!!!

Hey, if Xayas turns into the second coming of Trinidad, nobody would be more thrilled than Left Hook Louie here.
But we'll find out eventually, right?
Fact's! If Zayas turns out to be the second coming of Trinidad, virtually every Puerto Rican will be thrilled, but I hear you Left Hook Louie
We will eventually find out eventually, it's safe to say he's on his way, but he has a long way to go (around 26 fight's) if we're going by Trindad's number of fight's.
There is one thing we do know right now that he doesn't have Trinidad's knockout power, but he does appear to have a better chin, let's see if he has his recuperative power.

Being the next great beloved Puerto Rican Boxing hero is a relationship that can only be forged in the ring. It can't be bestowed by ESPN , a Promoter , or claimed by the fighter themselves. The people decide. That said , Zayas has a great chance of being that guy. While I would have liked to see him stop Texiera , the fight was a really good experience for him. Definitely a good test for a 21 year old fighter. He needs more knockouts going forward. People, myself included love knockouts. If you want to be a huge star , knock people out.

I don't forsee Zayas passing Trinidads accomplishments, but you never know. I was just pointing out that he has fought better competition at this point in his career, and so we have to compare them at the same times in their careers. I hate comparing fighters to other fighters. Careers are managed differently, competition within a division can be strong or weak, fighters avoiding fighters, and the list goes on.

It is awful how they just keep pushing and trying to force it. If he's the man, his fights will show it. As a boxing fan I don't need announcers and feature clips to convince me.

This goes the same for other young fighters too. I understand they are trying to sell personalities and build fanbases. But the whole "jump on the hype train" call is wearisome to endure.

                  I don't foresee Zayas passing Trinidad's accomplishment's either, but it's a possibility.
You were/are absolutely correct Zayas has faced better opposition at the same point's in their career.
The comparison will be a mute point if Zayas doesn't fight a title in his next fight or two.
In Trinidad's 20th fight, which would be Zayas' next that's when Trindad's career took off like a rocket, and he never looked back!

Several Rican fans were comparing this dude to the likes of Tito and Cotto lol.

He looks closer to average to me. Like Felix Verdejo was visibly more talented than this dude.
