Thats facts. But he was 17 years old. At age 19 he was already fighting a Cotto. 31-1

Its different in Mexico. They don't go to the amateurs for the most part so all the young boxers kick around fighting each other their first 20 or so fights to sort the wheat from the chaff and then if they have a good winning record they get pulled up to a card in the states to fight a prospect. If they win that they might sign with a US promoter. Puerto Rico doesn't have enough young boxers to do that so they go in the ams.

Zayas you looked pretty sharp. His movement, combinations gave Tex problems. Could we have seen more if Tex tried to be aggressive sure but he wasn't. There's a reason Tex wasn't offensive and that reason was the MAN standing in front of him. You need glasses .

Zayas looked good against a very experienced fighter. He was not as repetitive with his attack and incorporated defense. For a young fighter he looked like everything is coming together. He needs a couple of more step up fights to be ready for a title shot or top fighters.

He seems grounded and hopefully he sticks to the golden plan
He looks like it, which is why I hope he stays focused and not worry too much about fame or social media like a lot of other young fighters did in the past and are doing now. I agree with what you said, I just hope he doesn’t get a big head and lose focus, but he looks sharp and focused right now.

I wasn’t overly impressed either. He should have stopped that version of Teixeira.

Still needs development in my opinion. But he’s only 21 so there is still time.

No way he should be headlining PR day parade weekend, shows how extremely thin Top Rank roster is at this point.. Berlanga should definitely be headlining this weekend..

Calling out Vergil Ortiz was absolutely comical, Vergil would feast on Xander LOLLL
