Absolutely adore you, HItman, you deserve it & most don't even know what you & Billy really did before fighting Mayweather.

Had the privilege of being in the third row for a frustrating, tepid, laborious points victory over Carlos Vilches back in the day...

    ...& it was the greatest.

It's hard to not like the fella.

        Definitely an overachiever.

When he got KO'd by Senchenko, my heart sunk a bit.

Well if anyone is wondering why people like Ricky Hatton or why he's so relatable, this interview is a good example of that.

If you don't dig The Hitman you're not a boxing fan.

I think people forget the difference between ATG & HOF. One of the requirements for HOF is making a positive contribution to boxing, & so it includes managers & promoters as well as fighters. People like McGuigan & Hatton & even Bruno have to be in the HoF because they've done so much to popularise boxing, even though they are probably not ATGs. Was Rocky Graziano an ATG? Absolutely not, I don't even think he gets in the M/W all time top 30 (admittedly MW is historically rich with talent). Is he HoF? Of course he is, how could anyone dispute that?

Always remember my surprise when he out-boxed Malignaggi. I wasn't expecting that! He was trained, very briefly, by FMS & for that one fight it worked really well. FMS & Ricky was, TPIM, a match made in hell, & that was the only time they worked together, but I was surprised by how well he boxed.

The Hitman was a phenomeon. In many ways, too much of a man of the people, in that his unwillingness to ditch the lifestyle of his mates shortened his career. But a great guy; salt of the earth, with that rare attitude in the modern sport of wanting to test himself against the best.
