Im a boxing guy to the core but I really enjoy MMA as well.
Logan Paul roughing up Mayweather with a few months training hurt that image, as did Fury Ngannou.

MMA fans in total disbelieve when they realise all that their groundwork sniffing training goes out the window when they get hit with a proper one-two in their imaginary ‘streetfight’ scenarios.

Have you done any grappling arts yourself? I think it probably adds to your appreciation of what's going on... does for me anyway, although I take the point. Same way a lotta folk might miss 90% of the nuance in boxing.. although at least watching boxing any dude off the street can tell a meaningful punch landed, whereas with grappling it's not always so obvious when something meaningful has happened to a casual viewer

Mma is awesome. It takes a lot of skill to not only trade but to be able to take a man down and tap him or her. You can like both. Who really cares about what's more popular? I would consider Amanda Nunez more of a monster than any female boxer...

I guess, they reached the plateau where going faster would get folks killed, and now try to cover that with technical shenanigans where it is almost impossible to determine who is the better driver.

You mean a bunch of commercials interrupted from time to time with a footage of fat men pushing other fat men who maybe don't touch a football for their entire career?

A 200 pound leach is not what I call roughing up a guy 50lbs lighter, I call it survival in the only way he could using his massive size advantage, Floyd easily won the boxing if it was scored.
Same with Francis I knew AJ was going to flatten him, casuals see what they want to see, I dont think either fight effects either sport other than after prime McGregor and prime Francis failed badly its stamped what boxing fans have always known, MMA cant compete with elite boxers in a boxing ring, and we havent seen a prime in form elite boxer step in the cage but I assume it will happen to them in that world.

I do watch it but I will always be troubled by the strangling. And it is strangling.

You can call it a guillotine choke, rear naked choke or all the others. And whilst I understand to gain position against a strong opponent requires skill. It is just the absolute worst way to end a fight for me. I don't mind other submissions but just specifically anything that is applying pressure to either the arteries or the trachea or both.

Without wanting so sound like a pr.ick it just isn't noble.

Well done, mate. You strangled that guy like a scorned lover.

For me strangling is the domain of the jilted lover or the serial killer ffs. I will never get it. As soon as someone is unsuccessful with a choke I really do want whoever the other guy is just to knock them out - doesn't everyone?
