i was there saturday evening, the fights were superb but the atmosphere and boxing fans were no existent. It's no MSG on a cotto night or Vegas fight week, to claim it is now the capital is silly, plus its to bloody hot 46c . Great cards but calm down a bit Frank and dont forget the people who have supported our great sport for years and put some shows on in UK and US.Comment

People act like Vegas is some kind of boxing cultural Mecca or spiritual home.
It's a city in the desert that used money to attract boxing to promote g.ambling.
Riyadh is a city in the desert that used money to attract boxing to promote sportswashing.
Riyadh is making fights like never before. Long may it continue.
Edit. I'm nearly done with this site. We can't say "g.ambling" now?Comment

Tbh even the fights I would be more inclined go to aren't really being hoovered up by Saudi. The British title fights, area titles kind of level.
The Saudi's have just replaced Vegas and that top echelon of the sport where the fights simply weren't being made. Ultimately the pettiness and bureaucracy killed Vegas. And who would have known the fix for that was deep pockets? Apart from absolutely everybody.
It's sportswashing but this is boxing. Nobody begrudges the fighters making big money.
It is only really gonna be a minority of jingoistic Americans who might have an issue with this- and ironically for the same reason that the Saudi's are taking over. It is a demonstration of soft power to host the richest sport events in the world. I dunno if they see it as an affront.Last edited by Sparked_26; 06-03-2024, 07:12 AM.Comment

but women were there so I don’t see the point you’re getting at….maybe it’s not what they like and would rather stay away.
At the end of the day it’s comes down to the big fights and the fighters getting paid for it and in that case Saudi are delivering…..its down to the fans to make an atmosphere and all I saw in the 9th round was Saudi blokes jumping out there seats when usyk was battering fury ring post to ring post, so they are catching on quite fast…..even turki was out his seatComment

I'm just warning you guys to not fall for the banana in the tailpipe. You guys are falling in love with the babe who just walked in the bar with long blonde hair, a ***y face, big tiddies and you guys are fighting over who's gonna buy her a drink but I'm screaming out to you that she's bald headed and wearing a wig, she has a BBL and fake breasts, she has on 5 pounds of make up to hide her hideous face and her breath stinks because she just blew ten guys in the parking lot for 100 bucks. Don't fall for DA-OKIE-DOKE. America (and the UK) is where it's at baby!!
