Just as Wilder was starting to get aggressive, he got caught, he got knocked down hard, got up anyway, but was counted out.

He did his best and I hope he decides to retire.
But it's up to him. Zhilei Zhang is a solid fighter

What I said in December after the Parker loss stands... Deontay Wilder was successfully aged out and if Wilder decides to retire, boxing fans missed out on great fights before Turki Alashiek came on board and savaged some of the fights fans wanted to see....

Deontay Wilder was aged out and avoided when he was at his best. I'm glad he's set for life and got out healthy.

People who love the inversion of truth will love his lost tonight. People who are stronger minded and aren't afraid of the truth will see the deception...

I was never too sure how people didn't see it.

The greatest boxing con job ever. I actually give huge credit to everyone involved for managing to pull it off. It was an audacious move - right down to the detail of building up credibility behind Ortiz specifically for Wilder to knock him out.

And while the fighter himself isn't exactly a sportsman, I do respect him giving us a bit of entertainment and earning a lot of money.

And the sport does need a US Heavyweight.

The very idea that Joshua was ducking him is laughable. Everyone, and I mean everyone, wanted Wilder. When Whyte was ranked highly he wanted him, Joshua always wanted him, Fury was even prepared to fight him as part of his comeback. And then as soon as he lost some of his standing all the fighters with less commercial draw wanted him too.

Some thought deontay might beat zhang? That's crazy. Glad deontay ok, you live by sword you die by the sword. Deontay koed 43, so it's only fair deontay ended up in others highlight reel.
        Zhang will be koed oneday

Wilder put it on the line for his family’s future knowing he was taking lasting damage.Respect to him for that.

Good to see Wilder got to employ that spin technique he was perfecting in training.

In all seriousness, the Bronze Bomber achieved a considerable amount in his career, given his late start to the sport, and complete lack of technique. He is the proverbial over-achiever. Hopefully, he retires now, with his faculties and money in the bank. He has nothing left to prove.

Love him or hate him, he was very entertaining to watch in his prime. I thought his first fights with Stiverne and Ortiz were both thrilling.

                Thanks for the memories Champ.

I had Zhang winning inside of 6 rounds. Wilder's lack of technical skills caught up with him tonight. Aside from waiting to land a right hand, he was pawing with a lazy left-hand jab. He didn't set up anything and when he did throw the right hand it was beautifully blocked. Top heavyweights would've been waiting for that right hand and that is what Zhang did. Once his right hand was taken away, Wilder had nothing left to throw. Wilder is the greatest hype job in heavyweight history. He knocked out B or C class fighters and that's where his record stops. He will not make the HOF. He shouldn't make the HOF.

Glad Wilder will be done. And to think if Wilder won this fight, they were going to have him fight Jared Anderson. That would have been an easy knockout for Anderson. Wilder should leave with his dignity at this point.

I predicted before the fight Wilder will get knocked out by Zhang in a spectacular fashion.
