I think it would be revealing to get fight night weights also before they step in the ring... Haney was 165 vs Prograis on fight night. I suspect he was similar vs Garcia, who was 160 on fight night in his last fight. And Haney was more than 20 lbs heavier than Loma on fight night.
If you notice, we used to get more fight night weights, until Floyd, who seemed to start a trend, began to refuse to step on the scales before the fight. I fee like if this were implemented, it would dictate where a fighter’s weight class should really be, it would help the sport overall. At least the IBF, unless it’s a unification bout, keeps it somewhat fairer, if that is a word we can use, by giving the morning of weigh ins. They just need to make a slight change to help all involved.Comment

ONE championship has made a good faith attempt at it for their events. Weeklong hydration and weight checks. I prefer it when people fight closer to their walking weights.Comment

i mean they weigh jockeys before they got on the horse to make sure things are correct
why not stick boxers on a scale before they enter the ring, its not like they will be hydrating during the fight and getting bigger lol
maybe there are good reasons for doing certain things
but
put in a rule that if u are over weight at this before fight weighin then u forfeit a % of your purse, money talks, if u abuse the system then noone will fight u lol
i refuse to believe better systems cant be made and put into playComment

I'm not sure of the science but I think that's why they changed from same day weigh-ins in the first place.
They will be taking heavier shots but that's pretty normal anyway. For example at heavyweight or when fighters move divisions. Plus some guys hit a lot harder than other even if they're the exact same weight.
Commission's will have to decide what they think is more dangerous. X amount of weight difference vs potentially of dehydration and the risks associated.

i mean we have drug checks, great what about weight checks to make sure u are fighting at your correct weight, random checks as well & then one last check pre fight, no water involvement whatsoever seems to me anyway, maybe something is missing someone will chime in with thoComment
