they were pretty casual really. didn't really have the pulse of the hardcores. nobody gonna be good at being boxing media if they don't frequent the boxing gyms imo

Please leave Wilder's name out of it. And honestly Fury's too. Fury has a weak resume and his greatness is based on 3 fights w/Wilder who was finally exposed as the limited fighter he is by Parker and Fury. I'm not even knocking Wilder, he amazes me for accomplishing what he did starting as late as he did, but he never beat one great fighter, his best wins were King Kong. Fury has beaten one great fighter in Wlad in what was probably the worst heavyweight title fight in history. AJ at least beat Povetkin, and had an epic war with a legit version of Wlad, and beat a good version of Whyte, and avenged his fight with Fatso. Mike almost single-handedly brought boxing back to the mainstream and was the Michael Jordan of boxing for a few years, and won plenty of other fights later vs. very good fighters, in devastating fashion such as Big Lou and The White Buffalo.

Not a bad list. First and foremost I think any list should be divided between the ancient eras and modern eras. Guys like Jack Johnson fighting in the 1800's were in a sport completely different than the late 20th century. Tunney never fought a Black fighter. All just totally different, so to mix guys like Johnson, Tunney, and Dempsey with guys like Lewis, Tyson, and Holyfield just makes no sense to me. That said, Holyfield should be above Foreman - as great as George was, he fought literally the worst competition in history (as far as W/L records of his opponents) on his rise up. He had two great wins vs. Norton and Frazier, one real solid win before that (Chuvalo? can't remember). Holyfield's 3rd title might as well have been lineal - George had been stripped, and then robbed vs. Briggs, so he should've technically still been lineal when he retired. I thought Savarese beat him anyway before that. Holyfield beat the best version of Foreman IMO (yes, better than George 1.0, and definitely best of 2.0) and then smoked Moorer after smoking Tyson. He was unquestionably the man at that point in 1996-1997, while Lewis was still rebuilding.
