How can you have Scull fighting for a belt - just makes a mockery of the IBF and all of boxing.
My guess is that he is an undefeated fighter who worked his way through the rankings. He may not have the promotional push that has made him a household name...but i'd rather see an an undefeated fighter try and fail....than see a fighter who has previously failed continue to gets shots because they are "money".

but there's loads of undefeated fighters at any one time - 99% of the time it doesn't mean anything to have a 13-0 record for example - more important is who you have thought. Dubois for example has losses but he's clearly a very good hw - the winner of Sheeraz and Williams will deserve to go on an get a title shot as the'll have beaten an obviously good fighter - but who has Scull beaten?

Dubois is a good heavyweight....but i didnt want to see him fight Fury while Usyk was unbeaten. Dubois got a shot while Usyk was waiting on Fury...but maybe it should have been Hrgovic. We will see when Hrgovic fights Dubois. He may just get found out. All im saying is this. I would rather see Scull get the fight than someone who sits on the sidelines for a year or 2 hoping to hit the lottery. Andrade, Charlo and Crawford are good fighters...they just dont fight. It was like Khan hoping to hit the May/Pac lottery. Usyk did us a favor and opened up heavyweight by wresting away the belts from Hearn Arum and Warren. Now fighters other than Fury, AJ and Wilder might get a shot. I was hoping Scull might do the same to Canelo...who has held those belts captive long enough.

Lol, the irony, Canelo wasn`t stripped for not fighting Benavidez, he will get stripped for not fighting some nobody.

when someone refuses to fight, ibf kick them out of their top10 for 6 months. when ~10 boxers refuse, some of them are out of the rankings completely. they are replaced with lower quality boxers and they get a chance to fight eliminators. guys who ACCEPT and pay the sanctioning fees DESERVE to be #1 and #2. guys who refuse to fight DON'T DESERVE title shots regardless of their quality, name, fanbase...

william scull and ibf ARE NOT standing in the way of canelo - benavidez. canelo didn't want to fight benavidez regardless of everything. if you people are mad at ibf because they prevent the best fight in this division, YOU ARE WRONG! what do you want sanctioning bodies to do? do nothing for x amount of years until a champion moves up or retires? they should be even more strict. canelo should have been stripped 2 years ago. and not just canelo but this topic is about him.

enforced mandatory rule was invented because champions refused to fight their #1 challenger for way too much time. jose napoles had to wait for ~5 years to get his shot. harry wills had to wait for ~5 years and never got his shot. nino valdes never got his shot. and so on. ibf's rules are better than what we had in the "one belt per division" era. and i am not even kidding. without rankings and enforced mandatories, a champion could fight plumbers until he retire (literally #536, #748 guys) and put the division on hold. i hope nobody in the world wants that.
Many of the guys in these eliminators shouldn’t even be ranked to begin with though.

Man fuq Canelo... with everything that's going on in Saudi and the huge events that his Excellency plans on bringing to the US and UK who actually gives a chit about that fake undisputed chump constantly cherry picking the lowest lying fruit or only accepting fights when backed into a corner... The IBF being chit or not is irrelevant - at least that's one piece of power stripped away from that coward. There are dream fights currently being made left right and centre with the fighters involved demonstrating their balls to instantly accept - something Canelo wouldn't know the first thing about. Hopefully the convicted PED cheat now gets left in the dust!

He's certainly becoming yesterday's news. All these accommodations have been made so - what - he can defend three belts against Berlanga? What's the point?
