Canelo should relinquish all of the belts that he's bee holding hostage for a few years now.
Then the super middleweight division would explode with several interesting, and competitive fights between deserving fighters.

when someone refuses to fight, ibf kick them out of their top10 for 6 months. when ~10 boxers refuse, some of them are out of the rankings completely. they are replaced with lower quality boxers and they get a chance to fight eliminators. guys who ACCEPT and pay the sanctioning fees DESERVE to be #1 and #2. guys who refuse to fight DON'T DESERVE title shots regardless of their quality, name, fanbase...
william scull and ibf ARE NOT standing in the way of canelo - benavidez. canelo didn't want to fight benavidez regardless of everything. if you people are mad at ibf because they prevent the best fight in this division, YOU ARE WRONG! what do you want sanctioning bodies to do? do nothing for x amount of years until a champion moves up or retires? they should be even more strict. canelo should have been stripped 2 years ago. and not just canelo but this topic is about him.
enforced mandatory rule was invented because champions refused to fight their #1 challenger for way too much time. jose napoles had to wait for ~5 years to get his shot. harry wills had to wait for ~5 years and never got his shot. nino valdes never got his shot. and so on. ibf's rules are better than what we had in the "one belt per division" era. and i am not even kidding. without rankings and enforced mandatories, a champion could fight plumbers until he retire (literally #536, #748 guys) and put the division on hold. i hope nobody in the world wants that.

Alvarez needs stripped but not because of this. Because of the whole avoiding Benavidez thing. I wish to God fighters, Managers, and promoters would all get together and ALL boycott the sanctioning fees until those organizations all merge to create one champion per division. The idea of having "co-bests" is a bit of an oxymoron of an idea. It would also be nice to do away with half of the divisions in boxing and go back to 8 divisions. Maybe we keep Strawweight (for the ultra small dudes who are too small to make 112) and maybe keep Cruiserweight because the difference between 175 and above 200 for the heavys is quite different than jumping from 135 to 147. That would leave ten divisions with only ten boxing champions. That is a far cry from the 68 champions we now have to deal with and this isn't even taking into consideration all the "regular" and "interim" bull****. Imagine being one of these unified champs having to pay 12% (3% per belt) of your purse for the "honor" of being their champion. It's highway ripoff considering these dudes are fighting for millions of dollars. Let's get rid of this BS and go to one champion.
