not by me it (the status) isn't - Matias is - until proven otherwise. The last 2 guys who Matias has beaten I'd take to to trouble Lopez a lot if it'd been him fighting them on that night and not Matias. Instead we have Lopez vs Claggett who absolutely nobody was asking for except team Claggett.

Doesn't he has an issue with drinking too much booze. I thought he was a very good fighter but his lack of dedication was evident after Prograis. On the other hand, the injuries and that controversial fight he had took him out of being Buds next opponent. TR was trying to keep everything in house but that plan didn't work.

If true I look forward to seeing how he looks in this fight. At one time I thought he was quite a talent but I've seen little of that fighter recently.

I'm a step ahead of most on here - that's why. Plus what you did at 135 has less relevance for 140. Taylor was diminished when in with Lopez. Plus Lopez looked like 5hit vs Martin. Matias has an avenged loss - otherwise he's looked like a monster at 140 and nobody has their name in his mouth - if Lopez had anything about himself - him being the A-side in any matchup with Matias - then he'd be looking to unify but instead he's in with Claggett to (hopefully for Teo) come out looking good.

Idk, not a compelling argument really. It's convenient to discredit Lopez by saying that Josh Taylor was diminished, but few were saying that before those guys fought. Matias has won most of his fights in impressive fashion (more quits than Loma), but he also looks eminently beatable almost every time out before he gets the stoppage. The other elite JWW aren't running from Matias. Matias just hasn't presented the best ROI (largely unknown tough guy) for these guys just yet. Matias will get these fights, and then we will finally be able to take his full measure. I think Matias is tailor-made for Teofimo Lopez and I also think Liam Paro is going to give Matias plenty of work so he shouldn't lose focus on what's directly in front of him.

I'm saying that after the fight! He ran out of gas or hit a wall after 3/4 rounds and imo it wasn't that Teo did that to him more a case of Josh just has had too many tough fights and should probably be fighting at some non-existent weight class of 144lbs.

Matias ships too much punishment so his chin will 'go' at some point. Meanwhile Teo, Devin, Ryan, will happily let the Liam Paro's serve as grunts who take the sting off the incoming.
