Who should William Zepeda fight if he beats Giovanni Cabrera?

I think it's interesting that Zepeda is taking on challenges against relatively unknown but difficult fighters mostly acknowledged mostly by hard-core fans.

First he takes on Maxi Hughes (26-6) who was coming off a controversial loss to George Kambosos. Hughes is a pure boxer with a southpaw stance that had majorly improved in the later half of his career after getting fully committed to the sport, as he had a part time job.



3-4 months later, now Camaron Zepeda is fighting Giovanni Cabrera (22-1), an awkward counter puncher with relatively average power, he heavily compensates with his granite chin, punch output and timing. Might not be the most entertaining bout that fans are clamoring for. But it is a good learning experience that will improve him as a fighter like he has done so after a difficult bout with Rene Alvarado earlier in his career. Zepeda could still fight a third time this year if he mostly comes out unscathed.

Cabrera's style gave Isaac Cruz fits, he also had beaten opponents like Gabriel Flores Jr (21-1) and Rene Tellez Giron (16-1).



He is the WBA mandatory for Vasily Lomachenko who Zepeda's size and bodywork could potentially win him the fight.

However prior Berinchyk vs Navarrete bout, Zepeda was registered as number 2 for the WBO title behind the Ukrainian, he could be an immediate challenger if he were to win his next bout.

He is also ranked number 1 in the WBC rankings where Shakur Stevenson holds the belt, considering Zepeda vs Cabrera is happening in the same day (July 6) as Stevenson vs Harutyunyan, this could be a quite likely bout.

What is the best route Zepeda's team should take?

I'd personally like to see him vs Shakur, just from a stylistic standpoint. Pure unrelenting offense vs pure defense.

What's also interesting is that Zepeda is fighting two opponents in a row that display good footwork and timing, good enough to prepare against a complete fighter like Shakur (even if he either wins or loses), though Cabrera isn't really that entertaining of a fighter.

While Stevenson is taking on Harutyunyan, someone who is committed to relentlessly attack the body with a good punch output if you have seen his bout with Frank Martin. Might not be as experienced, nor as conditioned as Camaron Zepeda, but the similarities in styles are there.

Would be a neat fight. If anyone can force Shakur to get out of his comfort zone and actually FIGHT, it seems like it would be someone like Camarón. Shakur v Tank would be very much like Shakur v DLS, although I suspect Tank wins the battle of the low output because he's the offensively minded A-side fighter. I don't think Tank unifies with anyone except maybe low hanging fruit Berinchyk.

I think Tank is indeed a top fighter with superb boxing ability and 1 punch knockout power, though he doesn't deserve to be ranked in the P4P due to imposing advantageous conditions in his recent bouts, even now he is pushing for the WBA implement the same rules as in the IBF in his bout with Frank Martin with a 10 pound rehydration clause.

It also doesn't help that he limits himself to only fight inhouse fighters from the same promotion. Not sure Zepeda can get to fight him unless he either is a big draw like Ryan which is unlikely or holds a belt.

Whoever will fight him, Berinchyk is certainly the easiest fight, but I agree with most that Shakur makes the most sense
