  • Gervonta Davis has one of the fakest resumes in boxing

Gervonta Davis vs fighters that won a major world title in their career (no regular or interim), and/or fighters ranked in the top 10 by the TBRB:
W vs UR Cristobal Cruz TKO 3 (fmr. IBF 126; fight took place 5 years after his title reign, 0-4-1 in his prior 5 fights)
W vs #7 Jose Pedraza TKO 7 (reigning IBF 126; future WBO 135)
W vs UR Hugo Ruiz KO 1 (fmr. WBC 122; fight at 130)
W vs UR Yuriorkis Gamboa TKO 12 (fmr. WBA/IBF 126; 8+ years and 2 weight classes up from his title reign)
W vs UR Leo Santa Cruz KO 6 (fmr. IBF 118; WBC 122, WBA 126; reigning WBA 126; WBA 130; despite holding belts in 2 weights LSC was unranked in both; beat patsy for vacant belt at 130, inactive at 126)
W vs #9 Mario Barrios TKO 11 (will be WBC 147 whenever Crawford vacates)
W vs #6 Isaac Cruz UD 12 (future WBA 140)
W vs UR Rolando Romero UD 12 (future WBA 140)
W vs UR Hector Garcia TKO 9 (reigning WBA 130; fight at 135)
W vs UR Ryan Garcia TKO 3 (Garcia was #3 at 135 but the fight actually took place at a 136 catchweight which is technically super lightweight)

Other notable wins: Liam Walsh, Francisco Fonseca, Jesus Cuellar (WBA "Regular")

After 29 pro fights he's only 3-0 against fighters ranked in the top 10 of the division he fought them in at the time of the fight. 4-0 if you want to ignore the catchweight and count Ryan Garcia, but even 4 fights against ranked opposition is pretty sad.

Frank Martin is ranked #5 and will actually be the highest ranked opponent Davis has ever faced.

Why does Davis have fans? Why don't they care that he doesn't ever unify? Why don't they care that he doesn't ever face the best?

Don't forget his tendency to win fake belts.

He won the IBF 126 belt legitimately, then lost it on the scales.
He got to fight the WBA "Regular" 126 champion Jesus Cuellar for the "Super" Championship and the WBA demoted the actual champion Machado
He won his lightweight belt as a vacant "Regular" against unranked opponent, waited 4 years for the real WBA champion to vacate
He won another "Regular" belt at 140 against unranked opponent, vacated it instead of challenging the undisputed champion
He won another WBA 126 belt against a guy who only had 1 fight in the division against an unranked opponent

He just refuses to test himself.

Yes it's an absolute joke the level of stardom he has compared to what he does to hamper his opponents. Repeated Rehydration clauses says it all

He's trash. Dude is 30 and hasn't beat anybody good or even the top guys in his weight class.

They rather stank fight and beg Inoue to move up than him fight Loma

The Pedraza, Cruz, and Barrios wins were decent at the time and have aged fairly well. But those should be, like, his 7th-9th best opponents rather than his three best.

Pedreza or panty Cruz fight didn't age well at all. Barrios certainly has mainly cause welterweight is garbage and the dude got his eye shut against the weak maidana.

He's trash and dude runs his mouth

Isaac Cruz, not Leo Santa Cruz.

Both Cruz and Pedraza won world titles after losing to Davis. Pedraza took the WBO lightweight belt off Ray Beltran and then lost it in a unification with Lomachenko; Cruz just won the WBA 140 belt.

Tank can do a lot better, but he doesn’t have the worst resume in boxing. I would rephrase it as, out of the top 25 P4P boxers in the sport, his is among the weakest.

Not really though. I mean puppy Cruz got some hype and popularity beating bumero (who shouldn't even have been champ anyway) he's still a C or D level fighter. Barroso got robbed in that fight and is still getting messed around for his shot
