  • The only strategy against Usyk is..

Fight front foot, very aggressive and go to the body.

Take him out in first 7 rounds.

Guys that can`t do that and will box back foot, will all lose.

Usyk always finishes very strong. These huge guys don`t have his gas tank.

Honestly no idea on any strategy. He is susceptible to the body, don't know why Fury didn't follow up any of the success to the body. On second watch, Usyk was landing good to the body himself. Too much coming back body and head, Fury seemed to gas during the mid-round swing. Fury's tactics weren't terrible, he just slowed and seemed happy to coast on the back foot. If he jibbed the showboating off, kept a high guard and stopped sitting back on the ropes... He had success pushing Usyk back but kept stopping when he was having success. If he could do that consistently, and not get caught like round 9, then who knows? Could have been a draw or a Fury win if he'd pushed Usyk back more consistently and applied more forward pressure.

Have to remember though, many of these opponents have had high attributes, and 'ways to win' or make it more competitive. But every time Usyk found a way, and the opponents are left wondering "How? Why? Should... Coulda... Woulda..." Etc. Maybe Usyk is just too good for anyone else in these Eras...

He's the best of what's around now, take that for what you will.

Fury didn't have the gas to fight at pace for 12 rounds, he can't have that gas anymore.

He's a very old 35, god knows what damage he done to his body with all the booze and drugs over the years. Additionally he's been down 7 times and his punch resistance is getting worse with every fight now.

It's not really fair to say this, because Usyk himself is old, but the younger fury who had more energy, faster and more intelligent feet and held a shot better would have probably edged that fight.

Again, it's not fair to say that because Usyk is also old, but the point is it's Fury's fault for not living the life and extending his athletic prime. He has aged faster than Usyk, who is older than him.

He has to tuck his loose skin into his shorts

He got himself into the best shape that's possible for him at this stage but he just couldn't match pace with a smaller, lighter guy who has lived a spartan life and never been out of shape.

Boxing is as much about outside the ring as in it a lot of the times and Fury just couldn't keep up with him.

Think about Usyk is he is so adaptable.

Fury had a decent gameplan but he didn't always stick to it.

          Usyk comes with plan a, b, c and d

Seems that way sadly. Worst part is being robbed of a prime AJ-Fury rivalry!

Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn and British boxing tribalism was to blame for that, it would have been the era defining fight and probably the second biggest UK sporting event behind the 1966 world Cup final, it was a big loss that it didn't happen

I was surprised Fury wasn't more aggressive & attacking the body more. He seemed to have his best rds & moments in the fight when he did that. He mighta not had the gas tank for that sorta effort tho.

You definitely can't let Usyk control where the fight takes place at. So being the more aggressive guy takes away some of that ability for him. Usyk is very good at throwing accurately to the right spots at the right time when hes the aggressor. So taking that away from him by requiring him to be more defensive minded takes away a lot of how hes successful.

Wouldn't be surprised if we get Fury-AJ over Fury-Usyk II at this point.

It definitely isn't gonna help you if you are fooking off outside the ring.

Fury might be a lil younger, but hes also got more miles on the odometer in the ring cuz of that Wilder trilogy & damage hes taken in other fights. Usyk's most grueling nights are probably the AJ fights where he was dinged up but didn't take crazy damage or get dropped like Fury has in his rougher nights.
