Fury will 99% take rematch. He has a good chance. The only worry about him - is he might go through a crisis of confidence now. He was at his best and still got beaten. His standard talk and way of being: "I am the greatest heavyweight who ever lived" just doesn't stand up any more. Another loss and people will start to pick apart his (weak) record.
Fighters with egos often struggle after losses. e.g. WilderComment

****, I had Usyk 2 up after 8.
Perfect analisys. Fury was definitely ahead before the 9th but after the kd he could not afford defending only for three rounds and a half. Then the 12th, I would have had problems to score it...but usyk seemed fresher at that point.
I was actually hoping in a draw and this could have been the case but they wanted to have an undisputed.
Scored 1 - 3 usyk (2nd was close)
4 - 6 fury
7 - 10 Usyk
11 - 12 Fury (11 and 12 were close)
115 - 112 UsykComment

This is true, but like Fury said, he doesn't need the money. WIth the amount he's earned in his last two fights, the money almost becomes a non-issue -- it definitely has to be a secondary consideration behind his long-term health. There will likely be a price to pay later in life for the punishment his brain took in the ninth. Something similar in a rematch with Usyk would not be good.Originally posted by Hous
The play for Fury is a rematch for the monster purse. Win or lose, he can fight AJ 1 or 2 times before riding away in his carriage in the sunset.
Fighting AJ now is a huge risk to the purse.
At the same time, Fury may genuinely feel he can win a rematch.Comment

Usyk can do what Fury did to Klitschko. Claim injury and illness, stall for 2 years and then say he's retiring.Fury will 99% take rematch. He has a good chance. I really doubt he made a 100 million. They just throw numbers out there. They had a celebrity cam and it was Christian Ronaldo and AJ. It was like 5 pm for Christ's sake. They would lose so much money

Lol I actually appreciate the early start time. Not halfway obliterated by the time the main event starts. Plus, it opens the door for a wider audience.
I wish I had some numbers for you, but I know he's done pretty well with the Wilder trilogy, that WWE stint, that $40 million purse bid thing for the Whyte fight, couple Saudi fights, etc.Last edited by boxing IQ; 05-19-2024, 06:07 AM.Comment

This is a bit unfair. In the sixth, Fury began to find consistent success to the body and it looked at that point as though the fight might be turning in this favour. Yes, Usyk eventually came out on top -- but I don't think you can say Fury is basic or that he was schooled. Size, mobility and quick hands are all just as valid attributes as punching power. Fury also has shown good powers of recovery numerous times. Don't fall into the silly trap of immediately dismissing a fighter because they lost. Give Usyk credit for beating a difficult opponent.I’ll say it if nobody else will, Tyson fury is and has been overrated as all hell and has survived this long based on pure size advantage and being mobile in a weak heavyweight era. Kudos to him for riding a fight with klitschko this far but His offense is absolute trash. I’m very pleased with Usyk for exposing this giant sausage bin. Oh and his fans can eat shhh. This is what Tyson is without the leaning and headlocks. Basic af and he got schooled and saved all in the same night.Comment
