Boxing's best fighters have been featured in full force over the last four weeks. It started on April 20, when social media superstar Ryan Garcia outslugged and upset Devin Haney. On May 4, boxing's biggest breadwinner, Canelo Alvarez, defended his undisputed super middleweight title against Jaime Munguia and further reiterated that he's the face of boxing -- just as he has written in his social media profiles. For good measure on Thursday, Alvarez was revealed as the cover star for the new boxing video game "Undisputed."

Who cares about America, Canelo has been selling 600k buys his last few fights and by last few i basically mean every other fight than GGG and Floyd and they're claiming he's the "face of boxing" America hasn't had a "star" since mayweather.

Agreed. I don’t think boxing has had a true star in the sport since mayweather and pac retired. Nobody has truly captivated the fans consistently with their match ups. Part of it is due to the constant ducking and politics that plagues the sport. Real fans get tired of waiting years to see meaningful fights. Sure there are some groupie fan bases that will support regardless but there’s not enough of them to generate a 1 mil ppv buys event.

The US is still the Mecca of boxing. The biggest fights are still mostly held here. Saudi is making a push to contend, but that’s all they are for now — a contender. The States continue to rule as a venue for boxing. As for the boxers themselves, it’s plain to see that the rest of the world has increasingly taken a greater share over the past couple of decades.

I dont get this whole new social media discussion on who is the "face of boxing"...don't even know what that means or why it matters. The fans vote on who is the "face of boxing" by buying their fights. The biggest moneymaker is the face - Mayweather started calling himself that and the rest fell in love with that line after he retired. More evidence of his influence on the sport, I guess.

As far as I can tell there is no objective reason (from a pure boxing perspective, not a PR or promotional perspective) why Bud Crawford can't or shouldn't be the face of American boxing. Somewhere in the discussion of how the public decides what that even means is the definition of what a "casual" is and where the line between a casual and a more informed and active follower of the sport is.

Ryan and Tank are the only fighters that have crossed over. Ryan is younger and has crossed over to Pop culture, Urban culture, and Christian culture.. the man just dropped a hit record and an underground record that has steam LOLLLLL No one is messin with the kidd.
