Can or has the winner of a fight/w rematch clause ever tried to force the rematch?

It is always the loser who wants another crack and chance to see if they can do anything different like Wilder or Spence but has the winner of a onesided fight ever tried to force a rematch clause with an unwilling loser of a fight? Can it be done or does only the loser of a fight have that option to exercise?

I could see it in the case of a cherrypicker or maybe the winning fighter has no lucrative options.

Fury promised Chisora a rematch and made it happen. I can see him offering Ngannou another exhibition one too, after he retires.

I was thinking more in the case the winner of a onesided fight wants it, the loser wants to continue fighting but pretty much admits he's the better man and wants to move on but the winner threatens legal action if he takes a different fight to try and force it.

Yea it’s happened I just can’t remember who it wasn’t that long ago .

It was actually Povetkin I think he wanted the Whyte payday at Wembley after he won ,he made sure everyone knew . He didn’t have to force it though because I think one was in place bc Whyte was the number one mandatory or something. So I guess that don’t count I know there’s another one .

Chocolitito tried to rematch Cuadras after beating him instead of fighting Inoue. SSR moved in as mandatory and the rest is history

imagine bud forcing spence into a rematch

inhumane cruelty it might amount to

I would just drop like a ton of bricks when anything landed, stay down, and take my payday if it was between get sued or take the fight in that case.

That’s the one I was tryin to think of ,if I remember correctly I think Lewis threatened him with legal action because he wanted that payday again. He didn’t want Vitali Klitschko though he became his official mandatory then he retired . Lol

I should imagine the clause in the contract states only the loser of the fight can exercise the rematch clause. Plus many of the rematch clauses are one way, meaning it often only exists for the A side.

Parker seemed happy for the Zhang rematch... but I think it's contractually the loser's decision.
