He hasn't stepped to the ring just yet. If Fury has detractors, they are all well-earned. He's quite insufferable most of the time.
… and you literally prove my point.
Fury is no doubt a looney toon character but when he does fight, he wins. Period.

I’m sure the response will be “I’ll believe it when I see him in the ring”
After he gets in the ring, the next goalpost shift will be “Usyk is going to school him”
After the fight they’ll shift again to, “So he won but he will never fight AJ”
Next will be Fury needs to fight Hgrovic
Ordinary folks, with ordinary earnings, with all of their great accomplishments stuck like a prisoner in their imagination.
Fury won the heavyweight championship of the world and kept it for neary a decade.
Usyk never has won it, but is getting his chane this weekend.
Ordinary folks who harbor bitterness about their lot always want to witness the mighty fall.Last edited by Willow The Wisp; 05-14-2024, 02:48 PM.Oregonian likes this.

One could say the same thing about Andre Ward, Canelo, Oscar, Holyfield, Floyd even Ali

i think so too. Being flabby is an advantage for him. He doesn’t get hurt in the mid section, has more power and could tire out smaller opponents in the clinch. He’s like a tank in that mode.
regardless though he’s still significantly bigger than usyk.
i think their game plan really is to box off the back foot, use his range and be quick in getting out of usyk’s range, and once usyk closes the gap clinch him and make him reset. Wash rinse and repeat until he feels its time to go kronk style.

Absolutely, though I do feel that all of those other guys proved themselves more than Fury has so far. 80% of Fury’s status was won beating Deontay Wilder three times; a fighter who the staunchest Fury fans insisted is an amateurish one-trick pony.
In that context, yes I’d agree that Fury’s body of work is no where near those guys. He is 35 and can fight 6x at the very least. If he does that and wins, it’ll be hard to be critical of him
