His heart may have stopped due to trauma to the brain. The brain and the corotid sinus regulate heartbeat. If either get damaged it can put the heart into arhythm or stop it completely.

Cause of death listed on a death certificate doesn’t always tell the whole story. Death is always caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain.

Poor guy , this is the side of boxing that is always in the back of everyones mind. It's one reason why I get so bothered by supposed fans who call fighters bums. Bums don't risk their lives out of a spirit of competition.
My condolences to Mr. Lawals family and friends.

I know what you're saying, but it's not entirely accurate. They risk their lives to put food on the table, more so than in the spirit of competition. Some belong in the ring and some do not. That said, it's very sad that this young man lost his life trying to earn a living.

Man it always sucks to hear/read these type of news in combat sport but especially in Boxing ,and then you got some attempt of 'smartasses' pretending they know what they talking about here calling fighters 'bums' or even try to discredit or belittle certain fighters accomplishments ,so easy to write behind a screen huh but we tend to forget or give for granted the fact that these guys are literally risking their physical integrity each time they enter that squared circle.
